At Chesterbrook, we are blessed with an amazing team: our Healthcare Heroes! The love, care and compassion our staff have shown over these 13 years—especially these past 8 months—has been extraordinary.
From staff members who have just joined our family to those who have been here for years (like Aden D Tajebea and Kelly McCracken Halteh who have been at Chesterbrook since we opened!), they each demonstrate teamwork and dedication to the care of our residents. Our staff longevity is very unique in assisted living communities and goes to show others just how special Chesterbrook Residences is. We are proud to be a community that family, residents, and staff have all called home for 13 years!
Sometimes the most wonderful gestures are just small acts of kindness. We see this from our volunteers! Throughout the life of our community, we have had over 200 amazing volunteers – and many of those people have been active for years. From local faith communities, civic groups, and schools, to selfless individuals, our volunteer base is invaluable. Pictured are a few of these great people – (left to right) Clare G., Linda M., and Nancy S.,— three volunteer coordinators who have been with us since we opened our doors.
Due to current restrictions, volunteers are not currently working in our building. However, they are greatly missed and we can’t wait for the day when we are able to open our doors and welcome them back to spend time with our residents! Thank you for ALL you do!

Happy 103rd birthday, Ms. Winnie!
A very special celebration was held at Chesterbrook this week for our dear friend and resident, Winnie E. This amazing woman has a is a former nurse, is a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a member of the Peace Corps. She has traveled the world – from Norway, to West Africa, to Thailand, and Latin America – and is the great-granddaughter of a Civil War colonel. And if that is not enough, she’s the author of not one, but two books! Pictured are a few photos of Winnie, including one of her shaking hands with then-President John F. Kennedy in the early 1960s. Winnie has so many wonderful stories from her exciting life, and we are proud to have her as a long-time resident of Chesterbrook Residences!

Happy December! Chesterbrook Residences is celebrating the 25 days until Christmas by posting daily postings of the fun activities and happenings around our community. Day 1 and Giving Tuesday is dedicated to Food for Others as we collected food for the very worthy cause. Food For Others feeds up to 2700 hungry families each week for those in Fairfax county. We are grateful for their service. Thank you for those of you who donated food and HOPE to our greater community.
