Juneteenth, also called Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, or Juneteenth Independence Day, is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
We have come a long way, but still have a long way to go.

Bookkeeper Job Description
Overview:
CHT is in need of a Bookkeeper to oversee the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
•Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes
•Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on an as needed basis
•Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
•Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
•Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
•Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
•Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards
Qualifications for Bookkeeper:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
•3-5 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
•Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
•Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
•High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
