Amanda is a Registered Polysomnography Technologist or “sleep tech” for short and is an essential member of the sleep disorder care team.
When a patient is referred to our sleep lab for testing, Amanda is there to greet them, show them their bedroom where they will be staying, and attach sensors to their head, face, legs, and body. Then she is able to monitor their brainwaves, eye movements, muscle tone, limb movements, respiratory effort, and oxygen levels to determine if they have a sleep disorder and helps to guide their care.
Our patients love Amanda! At a time when patients may be feeling nervous and stressed, she takes the time to explain how everything works, answers their questions, and most importantly makes our patients feel comfortable.
