PARENT/PATIENT EDUCATION
The physicians and staff of the Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. are committed to providing parents and patients with information which will increase knowledge on normal childhood development and other health issues. The following information is given to parents at regular intervals:
Prenatal Conferences given to pregnant parents include information on breastfeeding; thrush; shaken baby syndrome; baby bottle tooth decay; thumbs, fingers, and pacifiers; and calling the pediatrician.
Newborn packets given prior to discharge from newborn nursery includes information on diaper rash, circumcision, home safety, and car seats.
2-week-old packets include information on car seat safety, emergency medical services, breast/bottle feeding, and SIDS.
2 month old packets includes information on immunizations, growth and development, and safety.
4-month-old packets feeding, sleep problems, and toy safety.
The Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. was the first in the state to offer a Healthy Steps program. This program will allow this clinic to have a Child Development Specialist on staff. Parents will have expanded access to developmental information from birth to two years of age as well as access to the Reach Out and Read program.
The Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. currently partners with the Literacy Council to provide books to children from birth to two years of age as part of their reading readiness program.
This clinic participates with Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in community health projects such as the Maternity Health Fair and the Childrens Health Fair which are conducted on a yearly basis as well as childbirth classes on a rotating basis.
Other information is available to all parents/patients as needed including vaccine information sheets, medication information, and information on specific disorders.
