Pulling a tooth—even a baby tooth—is a last resort. If the tooth is badly decayed, your child’s dentist will remove the decay and any damaged pulp and then place a crown over the tooth. Crowns give the remaining tooth strength and protect it from further damage. They can be made from a variety of materials, including many that look like natural teeth.
