Heart-felt thanks to Bauer, age 13, who donated 10 activity bags for teen and preteen patients as his volunteer project. Lots of great fun to help through hospitalizations! #ThankfulThursday
Addi was diagnosed with leukemia exactly a month before Valentine's Day. Even though she had picked out her dress for her school's Valentine's dance, she was not able to attend because she was hospitalized. Her nurses threw her a party down the hall of her hospital room with a photo back drop and more. "They have a gift, and they share it every day," said Addi's mom. Thanks for the sweet words! Happy Valentine's Day! #ChildhoodCancer #ValentinesDay #EssentialWorkers #Nurses

Children's Health February 18 at 1:30 PM · This special snowman was made by one of our patients at our Plano campus. While receiving chemotherapy treatment, our patient told their care team they'd never seen snow before and always wanted to build a snowman. Since they couldn't go outside during treatment, our team brought snow and supplies inside for them to build a snowman in their room! The snowman was carefully taken outside where it could be seen by our patient from their window. Great work by our Plano team and patient on building such a great snowman and memories during this historic winter weather!

Thanks to TeamConnor Cancer Foundation for their continued support of Children's Health through childhood cancer research and patient services! TEAMCONNOR.ORG Research Summary by Erin Butler, M.D. - TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation TeamConnor Cancer Foundation 23 hrs · TeamConnor is honored to fund the pediatric cancer research grant for the important work of Dr. Erin Butler at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children's Health Cancer and Blood Disorders - Dallas Texas. She is researching improved treatments for patients with rhabdomyosarcoma, the most common type of soft tissue sarcoma in pediatric patients. In order to improve treatment failure and relapse, newer targeted drugs are needed. One such new drug will inhibit a specific sarcoma protein found in a common type of rhabdomyosarcoma, and hopefully, inhibit tumor growth first in laboratory studies. Combined with chemotherapy, an enhanced effect is likely to improve the tumor response, leading to improved outcomes for young patients once this investigation reaches clinical trials. https://teamconnor.org/2021/03/research-summary-by-erin-butler-m-d/
