Our first flu vaccine clinic with all the new social distancing guidelines went great! Check your email for the next two clinics and all the details!
(P.S. We have the best nurses & staff!!) 😁❤️🙌
The flu vaccine is the best way to help prevent severe illness with influenza and hopefully not get the flu at all! Add that with wearing a mask this year to help prevent the spread of both the flu AND Covid so we can keep our community as safe as possible!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An email will be sent this weekend with information for our next 2 flu vaccine clinics!
Last chance to get forms turned in for the Summer Kids Marathon. Also, we encourage everyone to keep finding ways to stay active and connect with others this fall and winter.
We want everyone to protect themselves and their loved ones by getting a flu vaccine this fall. Check your email for special instructions about how flu vaccine clinics are going to work this year due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Masks are essential for helping prevent the spread of COVID-19 and should definitely be worn in buildings or when social distancing outside cannot be maintained. Here’s a helpful article for teens and adults who may be experiencing more acne or skin irritation from wearing masks for prolonged lengths of time.

Time to “fall back” our clocks this weekend! Parents with young kids can ease this transition by delaying bedtime by 30 minutes for 3 days prior to Sunday (or for 15-20 minutes later every couple nights). See more detail from sleep doc @DrCanapari

Wishing all of our patients & their families a Happy, Safe & Healthy Holiday Season! As a reminder, our office is open this morning for limited hours, will be closed tomorrow on Christmas Day, and then open for regular Saturday morning hours on the 26th.
Grateful to the excellent organization of the DuPage County Health Department, helping to protect our nurses with the COVID19 vaccine. Many were able to go today and the rest are excited to get it soon!
Pictures of some of the doctors getting their COVID19 vaccine the last couple of days. We’re so grateful and excited to get this vaccine to protect ourselves, our families, our patients, and our community.
Lots and questions coming in this week about whether or not teens should get the COVID-19 vaccine when April 12th rolls around and EVERYONE in the State of Illinois is eligible to sign up for one. Dr. Scherer answers those questions and discusses what’s in the pipeline for younger kids, too.

Many young toddlers and preschoolers are nervous about coming to their Well Child Check Up with the Doctor. We’ve created a video that can be found on our website www.childrenshealthpartners.com to show our YOUNG patients before their appointment if they’re feeling anxious (Dr. Scherer wants to assure the older kids that this isn’t what she sounds like when talking to them!! 😬😜)
As always, we appreciate all of the referrals our CHP families send to us. If you know anyone expecting their first baby or new to the area, we’d be very appreciative if you share our information with them.

Exciting news!
Studies are now coming out demonstrating antibodies to Covid-19 in the cord blood of babies born to mothers who received the COVID19 vaccine as well as through breast milk. While we still have to wait for data indicating to what level of protection this gives to the baby, we expect there to be some benefit as we know that other vaccines given to mothers during pregnancy (Tdap & flu shot) do offer some protection to babies in the first several months of life! Additionally, protecting all of the pregnant mamas is super important!!

Kids typically get more than enough protein in their diet, but it can be more challenging for some families if kids are picky with meats. There are MANY non-meat options, as people following a vegetarian diet know well. This article offers much help!

The CDC released updated guidelines today for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID19 — meaning 2 weeks after their 2nd dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or 2 weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fully vaccinated people:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- can be with other fully vaccinated people indoors without a mask.
- can gather unmasked with low-risk individuals from ONE family
- do not have to quarantine or get tested after being exposed to someone with COVID19 as long as they don’t have any symptoms
- should still wear masks and appropriately distance when in public, and continue to avoid large gatherings and crowds since we don’t know the risk level of those around us
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of this is wonderful news as so many people over the age of 65 have either been or will soon be fully vaccinated. All of the doctors at CHP are looking forward to safely visiting their own parents and grandparents without worry as soon as possible.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For other adults, getting a vaccine as soon as you can will continue to build up herd immunity so hopefully in upcoming weeks to months, we’ll be seeing continued expansion of these guidelines. Until then, let’s keep masking up and doing our best to care for others in our community.

With 3 very effective vaccines available now and supply ramping up in upcoming weeks, we encourage all of our patients’ parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles...EVERYONE old enough...to take the first COVID19 vaccine offered to them! This is how we’re going to get back to all the normal, every day activities we miss so much!
And as soon as we have information about vaccinating children & teens (younger than 16)...we’ll let you know!!
