CHCC lowers the flags on its campuses in Wayne and Wyckoff to half-staff to honor the life and service of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Our flags will remain at half-staff until the date of her interment, which has not yet been determined. Justice Ginsburg was a towering champion for civil rights who became the Supreme Court’s second female justice. Please join us in remembering Justice Ginsburg's family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers.

Can I really learn something new at 80?
Absolutely! Your brain has an astonishing ability to master new skills at any age. Learn a new language. Take up a new instrument. And don’t forget to exercise. It helps release a flood of neurotransmitters and hormones that promote the growth of new brain cells and synapses, which help you learn. CHCC resident, Julie Belanus, who is living with cerebral palsy, earned her bachelor’s degree from Ramapo College at age 67 – one of her greatest goals. Ask our experts or learn more by emailing khockstein@chccnj.org.
Wearing a mask, washing hands often, and getting a #FluVaccine are three simple actions that we can all take to reduce the spread of flu and help save medical resources needed to care for people with COVID-19. #MaskUp, #LatherUp your hands regularly with soap and water, and roll your #SleeveUp for a flu vaccine.
Through CHCC's pet-therapy program, dogs, cats, rabbits, an occasional horse, and even a goldfish delight, entertain, and soothe residents, patients, and team members. Volunteer Matthew and Golden Retriever Emme, and volunteer Alison and mixed-breed Maggie are sorely missed at CHCC. COVID-19 placed a temporary restriction on pet-therapy visits at CHCC but we look forward to welcoming them back to campus as restrictions are lifted.
It's #GlobalHandwashingDay! Hand hygiene is more important than ever. Remember to wash frequently, scrub vigorously for 20 seconds, and scrub all areas of your hand including the top, sides, and between fingers.

I’m an avid exerciser. What can a Continuing Care Retirement Community like The Vista offer to keep me moving?
When it comes to fitness, things are shaping up nicely at The Vista, North Jersey’s newest CCRC being built on Christian Health Care Center’s Hawthorne/Wyckoff campus. The Vista Wellness Center will offer a strength and cardio training room, and exercise classes. Our aquatics facilities will include a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and water-exercise classes. Prefer the great outdoors? Step outside and amble along The Vista’s paved walking trails. For the more adventurous, the nearby Ramapo Mountains offer more than l100 miles of trails. We know that staying active is important for physical and mental health. Ask our experts or learn more by emailing khockstein@chccnj.org.

Your best protection from COVID-19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds, and washing your hands often. No one tool alone is going to stop the pandemic. Learn about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination so you’ll be ready when a vaccine is recommended: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/about-vaccines/vaccine-benefits.html.
None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized for use in the United States uses the live virus that causes COVID-19. You may have symptoms like a fever after you get a vaccine. This is normal and a sign that your immune system is learning how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19.
