My goal is to inspire my patients to make changes to their behavior (for example, begin using a CPAP machine, improve their sleep habits, or lose weight) so that they can sleep better, reduce the risk factors associated with their sleep disorders, and to have more energy.
One of the best parts of my job is educating patients about their sleep disorder so that they can become advocates for their own health care and make informed changes that help improve their sleep.
I like to tell my patients, “Let’s figure this out together.” I take the time to listen to them, which helps them to know that I care about the details of their history, and so we can work together to improve their sleep concerns.
