During these times, we are thankful for virtual technology that allows us to treat more patients than ever before. CHRISTUS Spohn recently expanded our Teleneurology and Telestroke services to our Kleberg, Alice and Beeville campuses. A similar program was introduced at our Shoreline and South hospitals at the beginning of August. These services available through our telehealth partner, Access Physicians, will help us provide the high quality care that our communities expect and deserve!

Recently, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice took time to remember the life and legacy of longtime physician Dr. Mauricio Teixeira. On the day that marked one year since his passing, hospital leaders and members of Dr. Teixeira’s family gathered to share their memories of his decades of service to his patients, fellow physicians and Associates. This memorial plaque that hangs in the hospital was blessed during the ceremony. The road adjacent to the hospital also bears the name of Dr. Teixeira as a reminder of his contribution to our hospital and the people of Alice and surrounding communities.
His memory will always be a blessing to us. 💜
Please share! Our NICU reunion is only a couple of weeks away. During these unique times, we have created a socially distanced and contactless way to carry on this anticipated annual event on Saturday, October 24, in the parking lot of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South.
Although it will look different this year, we want to invite all families of our past NICU patients to celebrate with our nurses and Associates who cared for them. If you are one of these families, or you know one of them, and have not had a chance to register for this event, please send us a private message here on our Facebook page and we will help you. CHRISTUS Spohn Health System welcomed our partner International Medical Corps back to the Coastal Bend this week. Teams with the non-profit organization initially came last month to deploy emergency medical field units at our hospitals, as part of the Corps’ global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, the units were built at our Alice and Kleberg campuses. CHRISTUS Spohn President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Osbert Blow joined Richard Morin, Interim President of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice & Kleberg, and Dr. Scott Lillibridge of the International Medical Corps to walk through the units. Jim Wells County Judge Juan Rodriguez, Jr. and Kleberg County Sheriff Richard Kirkpatrick also attended the visits in each of their respective communities.

These teams play an integral role in helping our patients and Associates stay well nourished and healthy. During this Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week, we want to thank them for their service at our Alice, Beeville, Kingsville, Shoreline and South hospitals! At CHRISTUS Spohn- Shoreline their dedication earned them the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.
Additionally, both facilities earned The Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll, and CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline received The Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite recognition.
One of the greatest gifts we can give is our time, and that is exactly what these volunteers gave us today. We are so grateful for the enthusiasm they brought to our 2020 NICU Reunion. Many of these volunteers are current nursing students at Del Mar College and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and our future health care heroes!
