Ribbon Cutting Celebration
Our new front door with the night drop.
The idea was to have all of the building site and new office area pictures flow as one post but I'm better at working on cars than Facebook. This is our new customer counter area.
For those who need to catch up, it is true we are back in limited production. We have rented a building from which we are able to provide service. We ask to have vehicles dropped at our 43 Lake Saponi Dr office. We will shuttle the vehicle to our off-site service building and then return the vehicle to our office when finished. This system works best if the vehicle can be dropped around 0800. We have had a couple of wait appointments, but the wait is about an hour and half at the quickest. We don’t mind having customers wait as our new office has a big screen TV with cable and wi-fi, of course.
Sure, we’d rather be working from our new building at our new location, but we are running way behind schedule. At first the delay was, “... you need this permit and that permit.” Just when I thought we were done with permits, they would pull us back in with the need for one more. I presume we couldn’t be told about the entire process upfront for fear of making the process too smooth. My favorite point in this permit mine field was when I was told I needed more permits because Greene County has higher standards than the state level DEQ. Of course, Mother Nature had to put her 2 cents in with what has seemed like endless rain.
Dark skies are behind us now and work has been started. I’ll be submitting a series of pictures to show the progress over the last week. I guess it could be said that phase 1 is complete. The excavator came in and turned our tree cluttered, congested building site into an open spot with a great stone base to start the construction of our building. Naturally, the next question is, how long will it be before we have a building up? We hope to be in a functional building within 8 weeks.
Now all of you would-be Paul Reveres, go forth and spread the update. Encourage family, friends and strangers to like and follow Chuck’s Facebook page. Check out the Google My Business page for Chuck’s as we will be posting our first coupon very soon.
To this point it has been an amazing and educational journey. We have had to jump more hurdles than an Olympic athlete, but we are off and running. I have learned so many things I wasn’t aware that I didn’t even know.
There are two knowledge points which jump out at me. First, I have found out time manipulation has been perfected. No, it wasn’t a secret science breakthrough, but the construction industry and local bureaucracy. I wouldn’t call it time travel, but they have managed to slow time so much it seems to be moving in reverse. Second, there is no question that Chuck’s Auto Care customers are the BEST!
I want to make it clear how much we thank and appreciate all our amazing, great, fantastic, super (you pick the adjective you like) customers. We have had many customers just stop by the new office, call the office and respond on Facebook simply to touch base with us. Everyone has expressed words of support and encouragement sharing excitement about all the changes coming for Chuck’s Auto Care. They have let us know how they are keeping an eye on any advancement at our new site and how they are moving through their neighborhoods spreading the word like modern-day Paul Reveres. “Chuck’s is coming, Chuck’s is coming!” they shout throughout Preddy Creek, Willow Creek and Four Seasons. Hamlets near and far echo with the news.
