About

At Cincinnati college of Mortuary Science, we are the top mortuary school in the country. We pride ourselves on providing the top education for all our students. Our students graduate prepared to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation. Most mortician schools may not provide comprehensive learning to better prepare their students. If you're interested in coming to our open house or booking a tour, we provide both options. We look forward to seeing you at CCMS, the top mortuary school in the country.

First year students are about a month into their CCMS experience. There's bound to be a lot more education, relationships, and memories along the way! What was your favorite experience at CCMS?
Today is the Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims across the United States. This day is close to our hearts because in 2018 we tragically lost CCMS alum, Rachael Anderson. We celebrate Rachael's life and mourn her loss today and every day. She is greatly missed by everyone who knew her and will never be forgotten. #rememberingrachael In her honor, a scholarship program has been created to help a CCMS student cover education expenses so they can work toward the career field that Rachael loved. The Fall 2019 graduating class was able to raise $400 to contribute to this fund.
We're very fortunate to be able to provide our students with an education that lasts a lifetime, and this is what we strive for at CCMS! https://www.ccms.edu/

We wanted to express our gratitude for the Schmidt Family and their generous gift of gently-used professional clothing! The family of Frank Schmidt, a CCMS alumnus, wanted to help future funeral directors building their professional wardrobes. Most clothing was taken in a single day! Three of our students expressed their deep appreciation for the donation. Thank you again for your kind gift to our students and us! We are very grateful!

WED, OCT 21 AND 2 MORE Continuing Education Event
Hear from our own Kevin Brinkman, Dean of Enrollment Management, on how CCMS is working to keep our students safe and healthy during this time. 1. Students will start their morning and afternoon with a temperature check, along with a quick symptom questionnaire. 2. Once inside CCMS, masks are required by students, staff, and visitors. Our front doors will be kept open to cut down on touchpoints. 3. Our halls are lined with distance markers and one-way signs to control the flow of traffic. 4. If we have visitors, our receptionist will put them through the same temperature and questionnaire screening before entering the building. These are just some of the ways we are doing the best we can for our students! Stay updated on our COVID-19 operation policies here on our Facebook! We will be putting out more videos like this one describing different ways CCMS is working to stop the spread of COVID-19.
We are beyond excited to have Wanda Sizemore with Homesteaders Life Company and Laura Nobbe with Heartland PreNeed Systems presenting for our Continuing Education event this Wednesday! Their contributions to the Deathcare space are truly phenomenal and we cannot wait to hear what they have to say! Hear from our Dean of Enrollment Management, Kevin Brinkman, on how CCMS keeps our students and staff safe, healthy, and continuing their education. Our auditorium is sectioned off to keep seating 6ft apart and socially distanced. Every classroom has a cleaning and sanitation kit for staff and students to use. We clean and sanitize everything after being touched, sat in, or handled by students or staff. We also encourage our staff and students to continue staying home and avoiding crowds or get-togethers with other people, to keep everyone here at CCMS safe. If you have any questions about our procedures or how we are running things during this time, please feel free to reach out to us.

Terrible Funeral Themed Halloween Costume Idea We know today's the day, so this one is super easy to do last minute. Step 1 - Put on on your Professional attire (Suits, blazers, etc.) Step 2 - Mess up the hair a little Step 3 - Draw some bags under your eyes The Result - You're a funeral director doing a 2 am removal!
Terrible Funeral Themed Halloween Costume Idea Step 1 - Get an old blank piece of fabric Step 2 - Decorate it with a collage of things you like and a favorite quote Step 3 - Cut out a hole for your face Step 4 - Walk around holding the top corners above your head The Result - You're your own memorial quilt!
Terrible Funeral Themed Halloween Costume Idea Step 1 - Find a big rectangular box Step 2 - Cut holes for face arms and legs Step 3 - Paint in wood grain OR just go classic black The Result - You're a walking casket!
We're back with volume 3 of how we are maintaining proper procedures on campus to combat COVID-19! We are using our adaptable classrooms to increase the size and to help maintain proper social distancing. We are doing everything we can to ensure our staff and students can remain safe while continuing their education!
Here is a peek into the classroom! 👀 🇺🇸 President Lechner is teaching our S3 and S4 students about Military Honors and how to fold a flag properly, a skill that they will all use to help serve future veterans and their families! President Lechner is a proud retired U.S. Army Colonel. He served 29 years Active Duty before his retirement in 2011. We are fortunate to have such an honorable man teaching our young professionals. Thank you for all you do, President Lechner!
These two words will never fully express our gratitude to all of our nation's heroes. As a Veteran lead college, we encourage everyone to act upon the gratitude we all share for our men and women that have lived out their bravery and courage.
In honor of Veterans Day tomorrow, we are highlighting and acknowledging some of our Veteran alum, students, and staff! Before Monica Hannan became a student at CCMS, she served our country as a Hospital Corpsman for the United States Navy. She was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, NHC Quantico, and then later at Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA and during that time, provided medical care to over 4,000 Marines, 2,000 Sailors, and 1,500 civilians. In 2016, Monica was awarded The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for maintaining the inventory and distribution of medical supplies, ensuring 100% accountability of equipment valued at $2 million. She was discharged from the Navy in 2017 after suffering a traumatic brain injury. After 2 years of rehabilitation, Monica applied to CCMS and knows that her education with us, combined with her military background, will be very beneficial as her career in the funeral profession continues to progress.

We are beyond grateful for our students as they shift and adapt to the school's new surroundings as we continue to change to maintain proper procedures. We are seeing an increased demand for celebrants in the funeral profession as services become more diverse and personalized to unique family requests. Our Bachelor of Mortuary Science students completed their celebrant certification last Friday under the instruction of our licensed InSight trainers, Teresa Dutko and Wanda Lee.
