The City of Deerfield Beach, which was incorporated on June 11, 1925, operates under a Commission/City Manager form of government. The City Commission consists of five representatives. Four members of the Commission are elected by the residents of their districts for staggered terms of four years. The Mayor is elected at-large and also serves a four-year term. The City Commission acts as the City’s legislative and policy- making body. They select the City Manager, who is the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for executing the poli- cies and programs adopted by the City Commission. The City’s 450-person workforce provides a high level of city services including planning, water, economic development, recycling and solid waste, parks and recreation. Public Safety is contracted through the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
