Get ready for Saturday's "Hike and Bike Day" on the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway. This 10-mile bypass road will be closed to all vehicles on Friday evening until Sunday morning to allow for a full Saturday of quiet exploration of this stunning part of Prairie Creek.

The Great Race Comes To Eureka TODAY!
Come and see 150 Vintage Automobiles, from 1915 to 1972, their 400 Drivers, Navigators and Back-seat Passengers in Old Town, overnight stop #4 of the 2019 Riverside to Tacoma ‘Great Race’
They'll park in the Madaket Plaza lot starting at 5:15pm then enjoy a delicious Humboldt repast provided by participating food vendors and restaurants, with tables running several blocks along 2nd street in the heart of Old Town. The public is absolutely welcome to join in the spectacle Tuesday evening, to eat, drink, and mix and mingle with the cars and their teams.
The Great Race in Old Town is being sponsored by the Eureka Lodging Alliance and the Humboldt Lodging Alliance as well as the Leon’s Car Care Center, the Humboldt County Visitors Bureau, City of Eureka, Humboldt Made, the Eureka Visitor’s Center, and Eureka Main Street.

UPDATE (4:20 p.m.): Crews are expecting the closure to last through the night, due to flooding at this location.
UPDATE (noon): Closed again. More material coming down. We'll update you when we can get a lane open again.
UPDATE: One-way traffic control now in effect on 197 (11:20 a.m.)
Closure: Route 197 in Del Norte County is closed due to a slide covering both lanes. Traffic is being detoured to Route 199. There's no estimated time of opening but we'll update you here when we have more info.
SEMI TRUCKERS: Note, commercial trucks will be unable to use the 199 detour due to some tight curves in that stretch.
