About

Criminal Law Attorney - You may find yourself charged with an offense that the court will designate and file under criminal case. Criminal charges have a wide range, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs to theft and robbery to causing a nuisance. Being accused of a criminal offense does not mean you are a criminal. The judicial process divides the spectrum of criminal offenses into three levels of severity--Infractions, Misdemeanors and Felonies. It is the People of the State of California, through the Office of the District Attorney, who prosecutes any violations of the law. The violator is referred to as the defendant. Private attorneys may be retained to represent a defendant. If a defendant cannot afford a private attorney, the court will appoint a public defender to represent you. Personal Injury personal Injury covers a number of complex areas, ranging from slip and fall accidents, to auto accidents, product defects, medical malpractice and wrongful death. Our job at Michael B. Clayton & Associates is to handle the complex issues of your case and let you get on with your life knowing your case is being handled competently and aggressively. We know that in many of other cases, the "injury" usually is not limited to the person injured. It extends to and affects close family members, jobs and friends. Let us help you get your life back on track. Come in or give us a call, our consultations are free.

Open Letter to Mayor Alice Patino and the city council. I would like to take this opportunity and thank Mr. Michael Mattox for coming into my office. Mr. Mattox served in the Army from 1972 to 1976 and asked me to autograph this picture we took together last year at the 19th annual Veterans BBQ. Thank you Mr. Mattox for your service. I also want to take a moment to give you an update on this year’s BBQ. Unfortunately, as you all know, this year has brought us a few challenges when it comes to mass gatherings, and because of that we need to modify our celebration for this year. I am petitioning the city council to grant me the necessary permit to have a ceremony in front of the Veterans Memorial Building by allowing you to social distance with masks or stay in your cars and observe from a good distance while the festivities take place. This will effectively allow us to observe social distancing and be respectful while giving tribute to those who have given us everything. Sadly, this means that there won’t be indoor dining allowed, but I will have a delicious tri-tip sandwich, chips, and a drink for you to pick up by walking, biking, motorcycling, wheelchairing, unicycling, horseback riding, skateboarding or driving around the building so that you can take it with you and enjoy it as a small token of our appreciation. Just as with previous years non-military personnel can also take part with a donation of $5 a plate. All proceeds this year will go to the Santa Maria Noontimers Lions Club who have donated the water for our event for well over 10 years. They will use the money to help local programs designed to serve our vets nearby. I’m very disappointed that we won’t be able to replicate our tradition of taking a picture with each and every veteran that comes into our event; we started this custom back in 2018 with about 300 photos, and we were able to improve in 2019 with more than 800 photos! We are very confident that when we resume our regular celebration in 2021, we will increase the count and I will be able to take a picture with each and every vet in attendance free of charge. If the city of Santa Maria does not approve our petition to use the Veterans Memorial Building, we will continue as planned and I will invite you to my office at 400 E. Orange St. in Santa Maria so you can come and enjoy the ceremony and a delicious tri tip sandwich in celebration of the ultimate sacrifice that every vet has selflessly given us. I will not cancel this year’s celebration, simply because this may be the last celebration for many vets out there. I will not stand for that! We will serve our veterans this year! Dear Mayor and city council, I await your response. God bless our vets. God bless our country. Michael Clayton Proud Patriot.
