In 2008 Apple opened up the App Store. Clever Coding’s founder Steve Moon was flying back and forth to Houston at the time for a project he was consulting on. He would pass the time on the flight watching movies on his 1st generation iPod Touch. That summer when the App Store opened Steve downloaded some apps and immediately knew that the iPhone was going to be a revolutionary device. The possibilities of what was essentially a pocket computer with an always active internet connection, camera and GPS were limitless.
Convinced that the world was on the edge of a technology revolution, Steve went out and bought his first Mac, and got to work building his first app. As a father of young children, the natural choice was to build a children’s app, and “First Words” was born. After a couple of months of long hours learning to code iPhone apps on the fly, First Words was finally complete. Steve published it and it was one of the first 2000 apps on the App Store. With a little marketing, First Words was immediately successful and was featured in Apple’s Education Section.
Steve wondered if other companies would be interested in hiring developers to help them build mobile apps. After a little market research it was obvious there was a huge demand in the marketplace for developers for hire.
Steve quit his consulting job and Clever Coding was born.
In 2009 we got our feet wet in gaming using the game engine Unity3d. We created Paper Pilot and after some successful marketing campaigns it shot into the top 100 paid apps. We ran a campaign where we gave the app away for free for a week and it shot to number 2 on the free apps list and was downloaded millions of times.
Since that time we have continued to grow and have been a part of many amazing projects. We have been lucky to hire many talented developers over the years.
We now employ a team of highly experienced developers, who have the expertise and experience to turn any app idea into a reality.
