What is sleep apnea? 🤔
Sleep apnea is a series of conditions with the ultimate symptom being inability to breathe during sleep. People with OSA have disrupted sleep and low blood oxygen levels. When obstructive sleep apnea occurs, the tongue is sucked against the back of the throat. This blocks the upper airway and airflow stops. When the oxygen level in the brain becomes love enough, the sleeper partially awakens, the obstruction in the throat clears, and the flow of airs starts again, usually with a loud gasp.
Here at CMF Surgeons, we will evaluate the best course of action for treatment when it comes to you. Below are just a few procedures & options we offer here.
1. PAP: A device that helps hold your airway open by air pressure through a mask. This is generally the first line of treatment.
2. Positioning device: This is a custom device that will help hold your lower jaw forward while you sleep. It rests on your teeth and is usually adjustable.
3. Tongue-base reduction: reduction of the bulk at the base of the tongue.
4. Maxillomandibular advancement: This is the single most effective surgical treatment for OSA.
5. UPPP: This is best for snoring.
6. Septoplasty: This can be performed in patients with nasal obstruction contributing to sleep apnea or snoring.

The patient above had a Genioplasty and Buccal fat removal procedure with Dr. Timothy Osborn. Below is her amazing review on her experience.
I've been unhappy with my lower face for a long time now and made a consultation with Dr. Osborn while not entirely sure which procedure I wanted. I was somewhat interested in buccal fat removal, but wasn't sure that my buccal fat was necessarily the issue. Dr. Osborn recommended a genioplasty and explained that a stronger chin would improve add structure to the lower face and help tighten up some of the areas I felt were undefined and/or beginning to sag. He said we could add buccal fat removal if I wanted more overall contouring, so I opted to do both procedures. I'm very happy with my results and am glad he suggested a genioplasty! I agree with his assessment that buccal fat removal alone would not have given me the results I was looking for.
Since surgery, I've also been back for Botox and filler. My mother wanted to get Botox too, and I talked her into getting a syringe of filler. Before meeting him, she was worried she would end up looking like a Real Housewife, but now, she is so in love with her results that she has already told me she'll be going back. Her lines are softened but the overall effect is so natural that no one would ever notice she had anything done. It's that subtle glow/"good night's sleep" look everyone wants.
In addition to his technical expertise, Dr. Osborn is a kind, caring doctor who always ensures his patient's comfort. (He also has an adorable angel of a dog that you'll get to meet if you're lucky!) His office staff is phenomenal as well and have made the whole journey, from booking a consultation, to ensuring my satisfaction and health during the healing process, as comfortable, convenient, and pleasant as possible.
