Coastal Patients:
COVID-19 cases are surging across the United States and Maine is no exception. Over the last 6 months we have all learned a lot about how to keep ourselves, our co-workers, and our families as safe as possible. Masking, socially distancing, and hand washing have proven effective in reducing the risk of transmission.
After many months of isolation and quarantine we are all feeling COVID fatigue; missing our families and our ability to go about our normal daily routines. Although the effects of COVID fatigue are real, it does not care that we are tired. This highly infectious virus can be lethal, especially in high risk groups which many of us are a part of or know someone who is a part of. We must remain vigilant and continue to follow guidelines recommended to stop the transmission of COVID-19.
With holidays approaching we are acutely aware of how much we miss our families and friends. We are eager to celebrate and spend the holidays with our loved ones. Recent data from the CDC indicates most new infections are occurring from small gatherings. Given the surge in cases, we strongly urge you to NOT GATHER with people outside of your immediate circle. If you do plan to travel or have guests, we recommend that you follow CDC guidelines, stay masked inside and remain 6 feet from others that are not in your usual circle. Many people think that a negative COVID test takes away the possibility of spreading the virus. A COVID test only covers a single point in time and many people will not have symptoms for up to two weeks after infection.
Your providers at Coastal want you and your family to stay safe and healthy this winter. If you need additional resources to help you during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are in this together and are here for you.
In health,
