Hi everyone! I heard there's something going around so I'm going to start regularly posting to keep everyone knowledgeable about things they can do to 1. Keep the immune system strong and 2. Lower and suppress inflammation.
Today's post is about suppressing inflammation.

Suppressing inflammation is more about what you need to avoid doing rather than what you need to do.
avoid sugar and that includes alcohol.
Thermogenic adaptation. This means you need to expose your body to big changes in temperature on a regular basis. Ways to do this would be to either hit the cryosauna regularly or to use a hot sauna >150 degrees sauna followed by a cold plunge into water that is sub 50 degrees. I would repeat this process at least three times and do it a couple of times per week.
Stretching. When your muscles are tight, especially your back muscles, then your inflammatory response to a strain, sprain or germ will be greater. So stretch out and be patient with yourself.
Fasting. Believe it or not, your digestive system has a surface area equal to the size of a tennis court. If you don't fast on a regular basis, then you're not giving it enough time to recover, repair between meals. A stressed out digestive system makes you unable to suppress inflammation when you do eat the wrong thing once in a while. I've been advising my patients to intermittently fast for over ten years now. Start with a 14 hour fast and build up to 16 hours over a couple of months.
