Colonial Tree Care has been a family owned and operated small business in south western Connecticut for over forty years. Born and raised in Wilton ,CT, my upbringing was largely influenced by the orchards and wilderness abutting his child hood home. It was at Hurlbutts apple farm where the passion was ignited. The fruit trees were pruned in a way that left them dignified and healthy while also serving a function, of which was allowing the fruit to be easily harvested. And the fruit, it spoke for itself! To this day the trees thrive there. The apple farm had help push me to become who I am today, an Arborist. I also had the opportunity to work for world renowned landscape architect Luther Greene, who traveled the world creating old english style gardens and other unique accompanying structures. I am a UCONN certified Master Gardener, and hold a license in Arboriculture as well as Ornamental Tree and Turf. In the 1980's I became acquainted with Dr. Alex Shigo, formerly the chief scientist for the United States forest department; who mentored me in biology and chemistry for over 20 years. My son Mike Jr. has come into the business and shares the same passion I have.
