To prep the valley, a layer of water and ice shield is installed first to prevent any water from penetrating to the deck should there ever be an issue. The crew shingles from one side over and beyond the valley a little ways, and then they shingle from the other direction beyond the valley. Next the shingle layer on top is cut in a straight line down the valley. This is the most common way of installing a valley here in Colorado. The shingles you see here are CertainTeed Northgate Class IV Impact Resistant shingles in the color Weathered Wood.
