CMI is dedicated to finding the perfect home out in the community for our clients to reflect the least restrictive level of care while being integrated into the comfort of their own communities.
This level of care is designed for individuals who have sustained an injury to the brain (TBI) or have other neurological impairments that require a need for safety related structure in the home. This programming promotes the enhancement of their maximum potential, with continued support and teaching, to improve functional living skills, social skills and self-government skills.
Communicare Michigan provides three different styles of housing opportunities for clients. Housing options offer tiered levels of structure. The Utica Cabin apartments offer the highest amount of structure and supervision with the goal of seeing clients gradually transition into houses and condo apartments in their community of choice.
Once a the perfect home is selected, our team works tirelessly to prepare the home with any modifications needed followed by furnishing and staging the home to ensure the client feels as comfortable and at home as possible!

Today at the CMI Wood Shop: clients are participating in cutting, sanding & staining wood boards that will soon be used for a fun string art project!
This process of woodworking promotes strategy building and planning, focus, concentration, fine motor skills and patience. Not to mention it’s fun!

Thirteen months ago, these two lovely ladies literally walked from Clarkston to Lansing to kick off our No-Fault Rally at the Capitol. And last month, in celebration of the Rally's one-year anniversary, they began a Pie-in-the-Face Challenge to raise money for the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, which is still going strong. Thank you, Kristen Kelly-McCoy and Julie Coussens-Bise, for your commitment, your thoughtfulness, your generosity - and for introducing so many people to a whipped cream face-plant. You're the best.
Normally, we would be gathering together for a Thanksgiving feast with all staff and members. This year looks a bit different, but we are making sure our HCBR members get a delicious Thanksgiving meal delivered to their homes! 💚 Happy Thanksgiving Eve!!
