The team of mental health professionals at Community Clinical Research in Austin, Texas, are dedicated to providing the highest standard of compassionate care for those with mental illness through investigational pharmaceutical trials. Principal investigator, David Brown, MD, has over 20 years of experience in phase I-IV clinical trials that focus on treatment solutions for depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The Community Clinical Research team works collectively with mental health facilities and organizations in greater Austin, Dallas, and central Texas to recruit for clinical trials. The medical staff offers comprehensive psychiatric assessments for various mental illnesses to determine if individuals are suitable to participate in research studies.
The staff is highly experienced in working with mental health issues and enjoys meeting participants. They prioritize patient safety and the integrity of data throughout each clinical trial in order to ensure the best possible outcome. Staff coordinators value the importance of effective communication among the various departments, including the inpatient clinical department, the laboratory research team, and the community liaison team.
The Community Clinical Research inpatient center is made up of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, and patient care technicians and the 20-bed unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to oversee inpatient clinical trials. The facility is equipped with a quiet room and a day room, which features recreational activities including a television and pool table.
Inpatient staff works closely with laboratory staff for specimen collection, assessments, and to ensure the highest standard of participant care. Inpatients can enjoy the comfortable grounds and engage in many types of group activities, including movie nights, gardening, and games.
In addition to working with participants throughout clinical trials, the Community Clinical Research staff also connects individuals with health care professionals and resources in their own communities for managing mental health conditions. For some with mental illness and/or drug and alcohol addictions, inpatient treatments are also available, including on-site detoxification and medication therapies.
