About

We understand that waiting to be seen in the emergency department can add stress to an already stressful situation. Community Medical Center is always here for you and your family 24-7. Provide emergency care for all of Western Montana with air transport available through LifeFlight and a dedicated NICU Transport team to care for Montana's smallest babies. Our ER is pediatric prepared to care for newborns to teens and are affiliated with Seattle Children's when pediatric specialists are needed. We also provide low-stress and quick emergency care for adults with illnesses, cardiac emergenices or traumatic injuries. Backed up by a nationally recognized heart center. When and emergency strikes call 911 if it is life-threatening and remember you have the right tell the ambulance where to take you, and, if they're able to do so safely, they will.

It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to Dr. Bill Huval who is retiring today. We are sad to see him go but we understand his desire to be closer to his family in California. Dr. Huval has been the Medical Director of the Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center for the past 3 ½ years. His leadership and medical expertise helped create a patient centered culture that will continue for years to come. In his time at CMC he healed over 500 wounds and helped prevent multiple amputations with the technology of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He was instrumental in starting the wound center in 2017 where the clinic earned the recognition as a “Center of Excellence” three years in a row! Dr. Huval is a fellowship trained colorectal surgeon and practiced for 16 years in Florida before moving to Montana in 2003. He also practiced in Missoula and Great Falls until he joined the wound center in 2017. We will miss Dr. Huval’s expertise but also his excellent sense of humor and keen interest in the overall good of his patients! Happy retirement Dr. Huval!

“Snow shoveling is very similar to being at ‘peak exercise’ on a stress test, so it puts a lot of strain on your heart,” he says. “And for someone who isn’t used to actually exercising and being physically fit, it can predispose them to heart attacks.” Avoid shoveling if you are a high risk population. If you have symptoms of a heart attack, don’t delay care. If you watch with others, attend an outdoor viewing party where people can sit at least 6 feet apart. More on safer ways to enjoy the game: https://bit.ly/3cqyOHE.
