Double ended HPS fixtures with Ushio bulbs
315 watt ceramic metal halide fixtures with Phillips Mastercolor bulbs
We like to use dual spectrum like this in order to minimize transplant shock when moving plants from a vegetative spectrum (blue light) to the flowering spectrum (red light).
Nutrients:
House and Garden Aqua Flakes A & B
Compost tea (homemade will work perfectly, but we used FloraBlend tea for the price point and conveience)
Orca Liquid Mycorrhizae
Botanicare Cal-Mag+
Growing Medium:
Royal Gold Tupur (buffered and sanitized coco coir with perlite)
pH Test Kit:
Manual pH tester by General Hydroponics
Any pool test kit will work or a nice digital pH meter is good, too; we prefer the Hanna digital meters for the price point (~$40) and quality.
Using a low quality digital pH meter is not recommended due to the higher risk of malfunction.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to use a liquid pH test kit. We've got pH meters and these test kits available in shop!
Remember to pH balance your water before every feeding. A pH of 5.8-6.3 is good for most plants. Having your pH balanced can help plants take in nutrients properly, and prevent nutrient deficiencies.
