Please read this article if you are deciding on placing a loved one in a nursing home. We recommend going to each facility you are considering and speak with any residents willing to talk with you. Try to do this in private so resident is not influenced by presence of staff. While there are many good homes, as with anything, there are always some rotten apples in the barrel. The CMS 5 Star rating, in my opinion, does not give an accurate assessment of the facility as most bad events are subject to self reporting which often just does not happen.
We are currently working on a case where the family suspect their Mom was being physically abused. They put a hidden camera in Mom's room and discovered an STNA was being physically abusive to Mom. Heartbreaking.
An Atlanta television station where Home Depot is based did a segment on the Class Action lawsuit Myers Law and my firm are pursuing. The claim involves Home Depot not registering as a general contractor or pulling permits before attempting work requiring permits.
