As dental professionals, the month of October is a special one; it's #NationalDentalHygieneMonth! Today we are giving a HUGE shout out to our amazing hygienists that go above and beyond to keep your smile happy and healthy.
We will be sharing #DentalHygiene tips during the month of October, and will be answering questions that are frequently asked by our patients. Help us celebrate #NationalDentalHygieneMonth with daily flossing and 2 minutes of brushing, morning and night. Your smile (and hygienist) will thank you!

For those who look forward to that first sip of coffee in the morning, today is a day to celebrate; it's #NationalCoffeeDay! This special day offers endless perks for java drinkers. Numerous coffee establishments will be offering free or discounted beverages, including Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, McDonalds, Krispy Kreme and many others.
While coffee is a delightful treat in the morning, it's known to discolor and stain teeth. Coffee contains dark pigments that can penetrate into tooth enamel, yellowing or darkening your smile. While coffee has it's drawbacks, this type of stain can be usually be removed during your routine dental cleanings. Whitening toothpaste can also be used to combat discoloration of your smile, as it contains ingredients that are slightly abrasive to scrub away dark pigments.
Enjoy #NationalCoffeeDay with a cup of joe, but don't forget to brush!
New Monday, new week, new goals. Take charge of the day with positive thoughts, a supportive team, and a smile on your face. We are looking forward to a fun, busy week of doing what we love! Happy Monday!
What does your routine look like in the morning? Do you make time to include a healthy meal to jumpstart your day? Today is the day to rethink your morning food choices - it's #BetterBreakfastDay!
Although it's considered the most important meal of the day, studies show that more and more people are skipping out, or are turning to poor food choices. Skipping breakfast can hinder your focus and memory, and can cause a spike in blood sugar later in the day. Foods that are high in fat and sugar may fill you right away, but they don't provide you with the energy and nutrients your body needs. Rethink your breakfast options! Make time in the morning for a healthy meal.
Here are some ideas to jumpstart your day:
-High-fiber cereal with fresh fruit and low-fat milk or soy or rice milk substitute.
-Low-fat protein shake with fresh/frozen fruit.
-High-fiber toast or bagel with tablespoon of peanut butter. -Select protein bar and yogurt or a glass of milk.
It's #SpookySeason, so our #MondayMotivation is a bit eerie today. It's never too late to make a change. Don't regret putting off your oral health when dental issues arise. Remember, oral health is overall health; call us to schedule an appointment today!

Today is a day to spread awareness for a rare condition that we occasionally see in dentistry. Today is Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day, #TNAwarenessDay.
Trigeminal neuralgia is pain associated with your trigeminal nerve, which you may feel in your lips, eyes, nose, scalp, forehead, upper jaw and/or lower jaw. Everyone’s symptoms are different: you may experience extreme, sporadic, sudden burning or shock-like pain in the face that lasts a few seconds or minutes. For some people, the pain is constant aching, throbbing and/or stabbing. This pain can be triggered by brushing your teeth, washing your face, shaving, or putting on makeup. If you want to learn more about Trigeminal Neuralgia, visit the Facial Pain Association website. #TNAwarenessDay, #FaceTodayTogether

With #SpookySeason in full swing, our #MondayMotivation is a bit frightening. October is a big month for candy sales, and candy consumption, especially for children. Did you know, tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic disease in both children and adults. Halloween is a time to have fun and indulge, so we are motivating you to do so in a healthy way. Here are some ways to keep your Halloween healthy.
Time it right - Eat candy with meals or shortly after mealtime.
Choose candy carefully - Avoid hard candies that stay in your mouth for a long time.
Avoid Sticky candy - Gummies, taffy or sticky-like candies cling to your teeth. They take longer to become washed away by saliva, increasing the risk for tooth decay.
Drink water!
Chew Gum - Chewing sugar-free gum with the ADA seal 20 minutes after meals, helps to neutralize acids in the mouth. It also increases salivary flow which helps to wash away food debris.
As always, brush and floss daily to keep your mouth happy and healthy!

Not only are they fun to carve, pumpkins have numerous health benefits too. Who knew? Of course, this depends on how pumpkin is incorporated into certain recipes, and whether it's natural or artificial flavoring. Some of the benefits include immunity to certain bacterial infections, weight loss, eye health, diabetes and a reduction in cancer cells. Celebrate #NationalCandyCornDay with us with a handful of this fun treat!
With the holidays around the corner, it's easy to become overwhelmed with holiday shopping, and planning. This year especially, this time can be extremely stressful. Today, during #StressAwarenessDay, take a step back and breathe. Stress can wreak havoc on our overall health, our bodies, and our dental health.
Develop a routine to help you lessen your tension. Go for a walk, do some deep breathing, get some exercise or a massage, or take a long, relaxing bath. Also, people often clench and grind their teeth during times of stress, which can cause fractures, chips and further dental problems. If you're one of the millions of individuals that has this habit, you may want to consider a night guard, also called a bite guard or occlusal guard. This custom appliance is made to fit snugly in your mouth, creating a buffer zone between your top and bottom teeth when they come together. It can prevent extensive oral health problems, can ease jaw pain and fatigue, and can increase the longevity of your teeth! These custom appliances are available in a variety of colors too. Who knew a night guard could look so glamorous?
Sending some good vibes to our patients on #StressAwarenessDay!
Happy Monday; the start of another great week. While we weren't able to celebrate #NationalBrushDay yesterday, we can still enjoy our #MondayMotivation in light of it.
#NationalBrushDay follows Halloween, the biggest candy consumption day of the year. Finding a total of 4 minutes a day to brush your teeth should be a priority.
Today, our #MondayMotivation is simple: take the time to change your toothbrush. Small changes eventually add up to big results.🦷
Here we are, at the start of a new week. Happy Monday! While this year has been difficult for many, we are here to tell you to keep going!
Stay positive, be kind, challenge yourself and don't forget to smile. A little kindness and a warm smile goes a long way. 😁
#BeKind, #Smile, #MondayMotivation
It's a great day to be kind. Not only is today Friday, it's #WorldKindnessDay. We are challenging our followers to take part in 1 act of kindness. Pass it on, it's contagious. ☺️
November has brought us another special birthday to celebrate. We are giving a huge shout out to Dr. Patel! We hope this year is your best one yet! 🎂
While this week is a bit shorter as we celebrate Thanksgiving, we could still use a bit of a pick-me-up on a Monday morning. We can rejoice today and celebrate #NationalEspressoDay! What better time to celebrate this special day, as we gear up for the holidays, which look a little different this year.
Wondering how you can celebrate #NationalEspressoDay? Let us help!
-Order through the local drive-through and pay it forward by also paying for the customer behind you in line.
-Pick up extra espressos for everyone in the office.
-Have espressos delivered to front-line workers at the hospital, fire station, police station, or ambulance bay near you.
-Send a gift card to your favorite teachers for National Espresso Day, letting them know just how much you appreciate them.
However you decide to celebrate, enjoy! Happy Monday from our team!
On #NationalChildsDay, we recognize and celebrate the potential represented by our children's ambitions, dreams and goals. We also celebrate the educators, parents and individuals supporting, encouraging, and empowering our youth.
To all of the incredible children and families that come into our office, thank you for inspiring us to do what we love, and for keeping us smiling! We couldn't do it without you!
#HappyFriday, #DidYouSmileToday?
We are halfway through the week, and we are celebrating a fun day today, #AppleCiderDay! Enjoy one of the best flavors that autumn has to offer. The best way to celebrate is to head to a local farm or apple cider mill to support your neighbors. Also, as dental professionals, we can't help but rejoice that apples are packed full of nutrients that are good for overall health, and oral health! Another reason to smile!

We are wishing you all, a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
It's Tuesday, and there's a lot to be thankful for. Today, let's reflect and think about what we are grateful for on this #ThankfulTuesday!
For our team, we are thankful for a profession where we can form lasting relationships with our patients, the opportunity to meet individuals from all over, and the ability to do what we love, day in and day out, with a smile! We are also incredibly grateful for each and every one of our team members, our families and our friends. What are you thankful for this year?
If you know our team, you know that we will take any opportunity to celebrate a fun day that involves goodies!
Not only is it Friday, it's #NationalCookieDay; there's no doubt we will indulge with a few treats today. What are your favorite cookies to make during the holidays?
Today is National Day of Giving, or #GivingTuesday. It's a time to give to those less fortunate and to lift up others during a generous time of the year. Today, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
With endless ways to give to those less fortunate, let's celebrate and give back in any way that we can!
This week is an important one to recognize, it's #NationalHandwashingWeek. This year especially, we have learned the importance of proper hand hygiene. Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water. CDC recommends cleaning hands in a specific way to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Follow these steps to ensure that you're doing your part in an effort to fight off germs.
1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the "Happy Birthday" song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Make us proud by celebrating #NationalHandwashingWeek!
Have any plans for the weekend? Gather the family together, bake up some gingerbread and start building and decorating; tomorrow is #GingerbreadHouseDay!
It's another fun day to celebrate all the sweet treats that we get to indulge in during the holidays. Happy #NationalBrownieDay! Every year brownie lovers come from far and wide to celebrate. Warm, chewy, and rich, a nice chocolate (or blondie) brownie is the perfect dessert to end your night with. Indulge in the gooey goodness of a brownie today, and skip the guilt!
Did you know, the gritty paste that is used at the end of a dental cleaning comes in hundreds of different flavors? It's called prophy paste and it's used to remove plaque and stain from the teeth. Our friends at Young Dental have reminded us that even if we can't enjoy a warm brownie straight from the oven, we can still celebrate with some fun flavors for our patients. Those with a sweet tooth can rejoice - here is triple fudge brownie prophy paste, mmm!
Today our #MondayMotivation is simple. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
Each year on the third Friday in December, we can get cozy and break out those tacky holiday sweaters; today is #NationalUglyChristmasSweaterDay.
Do you have a sweater that you've been hanging on to for years? Or maybe you have a new one, as the tradition has made quite the comeback. We would love to see what you have; show us your sweaters!

If you have a sweet tooth, today is for you; it's #NationalCupcakeDay! While these treats can be sticky sweet at times, we feel it's okay to indulge every now and then.
If our team had to choose our favorite type of cupcake, we wouldn't be picky about the flavor. We would just want them to be as incredible looking as these ones! Also, did you know they make cupcake flavored floss? Not sure how we feel about frosting flavored dental floss, but if it gets you to form the habit, go for it! #OralHygiene, #2min2x, #BrushAndFloss, #Smile
Keep going, you've got this! #MondayMotivation
You know our team loves goodies, especially during the holidays! Today we have an excuse to talk about our favorite holiday cookies; it's #NationalCookieExchangeDay.
Cookie exchanges are a centuries-old tradition that dates back to medieval times. While our taste for cookies has changed immensely over the years, we all know that receiving a fun holiday tin packed with treats is a sure way to spark a smile! Enjoy the day savoring your favorite holiday cookie, or deliver some to friends and family.
'Tis the season to be awesome! #MondayMotivation for a short holiday week.
This time of the year can get pretty crazy. We scramble to get things wrapped up before the start of the new year, we start to think about our upcoming goals, we strive to focus on big changes, and we often find ourselves with very little free time.
This is a friendly reminder that finding 2 minutes in the morning and the evening for oral hygiene is essential. It's easy to complete a quick brush when you're in a hurry, but don't make it a habit. 2 minutes of brushing will help keep your smile happy, healthy and bright. It's the kind of smile we want to bring into 2021!

January is #NationalBloodDonorMonth. According to the American Red Cross, winter is “one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs.”
#NationalBloodDonorMonth has taken place each January since 1970 and has become an extremely important observance, especially during the COVID pandemic. Donating blood saves many lives and improves health for many people. According to the World Health Organization, “blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life.” If you are interested in finding a blood drive in your area, visit the American Red Cross website at www.redcrossblood.org.
More and more people are turning to a gluten-free diet. Whether it's a personal choice, a gluten sensitivity, or celiac disease, we can celebrate today as it's #NationalGlutenFreeDay, #NGFD.
Here's how you can take part: Invite a friend to eat. If you have a gluten-free friend, call them up and invite them on a gluten-free lunch date. Let them teach you about the menu, and if you’re brave, allow them to order you a gluten-free meal. Are YOU the gluten-free friend? Invite your besties out for lunch and educate them on your menu options.
Make a gluten-free recipe. Try your hand at gluten-free cooking. Find a delicious, intriguing, gluten-free recipe from the internet and go to town! Up for a challenge? Try baking from scratch with rice or almond flour. However you partake, enjoy the day with some #GlutenFree options!
The secret of getting ahead, is getting started. Is today the day you will get started? Don't let your oral health suffer. If you're looking to start the year off on the right foot, today is your day. Embrace #TryItTuesday with a call to schedule your dental visit, or simply give flossing another shot tonight!

Happy Monday; it's #NationalMilkDay! Calcium is a key component for building strong bones, as you probably know, and milk products are loaded with it. In fact, just 1 cup of milk provides almost 300 milligrams of calcium. But that's not all; dairy products keep your teeth as healthy as your bones throughout your life. So, is milk good for your teeth? The answer is a resounding yes!
Drinking milk makes your teeth stronger and protects tooth enamel. It also strengthens your jaw bone, which can help you keep your natural teeth longer, and fights tooth decay. For children, expectant mothers and women in general, milk is especially important. Drink up! #OralHealth, #StrongBones, #StrongTeeth, #Smile

Today is #PeanutBrittleDay. While it's a sweet treat we can enjoy once in a while, those of us in the dental world can't help but cringe when we think about biting into a piece.
Because peanut brittle is so hard, it's similar to chewing ice. It can cause fractures due to the amount of stress the hard candy places on each tooth when it's consumed. Even teeth that are healthy and free of dental work can crack or chip. Maybe a handful of peanuts is a better snack. #OralHealth, #OralHygiene, #2min2x

February has arrived, which means it's National Children's Dental Health Month once again! Every year, the American Dental Association recognizes this month-long national health observance that brings together thousands of dedicated professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to promote the benefits of good oral health to children, their caregivers, teachers and many others. This year, the campaign is shining light on "nature's drink" and the importance of adequate water intake for children.
We will be sharing information on what you can do to instill good oral hygiene habits in your kids, and we will offer resources where more information can be found. There are many ways to make brushing and flossing fun, and National Children's Dental Health Month is the perfect time to do so! #OralHealth, #OralHygiene, #MouthHealthy, #NCDHM, #Smile

National Children's Dental Health Month is the perfect time to celebrate Give Kids a Smile Day!
The Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program, launched nationally in 2003, provides underserved children with free oral health care. Each year approximately 6,500 dentists and 30,000 dental team members volunteer at local GKAS events to provide free oral health education, screenings, preventive and restorative treatment to over 300,000 children.

Today is one of those special days we don't love celebrating, but we should recognize. Today, on #NationalToothacheDay, we are offering up a subtle reminder of the importance of dental care.
A toothache can make us miserable! It can become difficult to eat, sleep, or sometimes even talk. It’s safe to say, toothaches are never pleasant and not really something to celebrate. We can, however, be aware of the ways in which we prevent toothaches.Routine dental care is an essential first step. Avoiding sugary foods and acidic drinks with daily brushing and flossing are important, too. Even so, we can still develop dental cavities, or have trauma that may cause chipped or fractured teeth.
Prevention is key to the longevity of your oral health. Routine dental cleanings and exams can help prevent small problems from progressing. Help us celebrate #NationalToothacheDay by scheduling your next visit, today! #OralHealth, #OralHygiene, #Toothache, #Smile, #2min2x

Chocolate and mint, while it may seem like an unusual combination, has many benefits–not the least of which is its amazing taste! However, many health benefits are also known to come from joining these two tasty treats together.
Not only does chocolate help produce serotonin and dopamine, but the combination of that with mint also makes it an overall healthier candy. That’s because mint is a powerful and aromatic herb that aids in digestion and freshens the breath. In the dental world, this is a win win!
While it might be surprising that combining an herb that grows so prolifically, with the product of the cacao bean, is so yummy–somehow it just works. So, to celebrate this unique combination, today is national #ChocolateMintDay!
Today is a day we love to celebrate - it's #RandomActsOfKindnessDay!

Hello March! We've made it to the beginning of a new month, and spring is right around the corner. Plus, it's Monday; let's continue to stay positive and motivated.
A new month means new opportunities. Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. #MondayMotivation, #Smile, #HelloMarch
It's fitting that #ToothFairyDay falls during the month of February as we celebrate National Children's Dental Health Month, #NCDHM.
Today, for #ToothFairyDay, we are sharing some #DentalFacts about your child's teeth.
1. Baby teeth begin to develop before they are born, but don't fully erupt until around 6 months to 12 months old.
2. Most children have a full set of 20 baby teeth by the time they are 3 years old.
3. Bottom incisors (bottom front teeth) are usually the first to come through, usually around 5 to 7 months.
4. Brushing your child's teeth should begin as soon as teeth start to erupt through the gum tissue.

Do you bring a lunch with you to work? Today, on National Pack Your Lunch Day, we encourage you to explore the options of a home-packed lunch. It’s an opportunity to revitalize lunchtime with fresh and healthful meal choices.
Packing your lunch has benefits you may not expect. One of the immediate benefits is savings. Many home-prepared lunches cost less than ordering off the take-out menu or eating out. Another benefit of making your own lunch is controlling portion sizes and ingredients. By adding fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to your lunches, they will be healthier, too. #PackYourLunch, #HealthyEating

It may seem odd to celebrate a day devoted to the tiny, yet powerful chia seed, but they are nutrient powerhouses for whole body health, and oral health!
You may have heard these little seeds are beneficial to your digestive health, but did you know they contain vitamins and minerals that are also good for your teeth? Chia seeds have calcium, vitamin A, fiber, and phosphorus — all excellent promoters of good oral health.
Chia seeds deliver a massive amount of nutrients with very few calories, and are loaded with antioxidants. They are high in quality protein, and omega-3 fatty acids which can help you lose weight. It seems like a no-brainer to add these tiny, nutrient rich powerhouses to our next meal. #NationalChiaDay, #OralHealth, #WholeBodyHealth
Water means different things to different people. How is water important to your home and family life, your livelihood, your cultural practices, your wellbeing, your local environment? Today is World Water Day - a day to celebrate water and raise awareness of the global water crisis.
In households, schools and workplaces, water can mean health, hygiene, dignity and productivity. In cultural, religious and spiritual places, water can mean a connection with creation, community and oneself. In natural spaces, water can mean peace, harmony and preservation.
Today, water is under extreme threat from a growing population, increasing demands of agriculture and industry, and the worsening impacts of climate change. There are countless ways to reduce your water intake including taking shorter showers and turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth. Do your part for World Water Day, 2021. #WorldWaterDay, #Water2Me
