Wow! How about that snow!? As I drove home last night, albeit slowly, I noticed people getting stuck in the parking lots after turning off the street. And this came to mind: Most newer vehicles have traction control, which cuts the power back from the drive wheels to give you better traction. But, when you are having a hard time getting into a parking lot full of snow, and most of the time from a stop, traction control becomes your enemy, as you don't get adequate power to the wheels to plow through that deep snow. When this happens, look at your dash panel, find the button for the traction control, and shut it off. This way you can get more power to the wheels so you can get moving in that deep snow. The button with either have the letters "TC" on it, or a picture of a vehicle, with two way lines coming off of the rear wheels. When you shut it off, an indicator on the dash will illuminate, telling you it is now off. Then you get stomp on the gas, get those wheels spinning, and hopefully get out of that jam. Be safe out there.
Due to the severe weather, and travel conditions are dangerous, we will be closing at 5pm instead of our normal 5:30. We want our employees to get somewhat of a head start to their homes. We will open at our normal time of 7:30 on Tuesday. Do not travel if not nec., and if you must, please be very careful and give yourself plenty of time. Don't be that guy/gal.
It goes without saying, today is a slippery slope! I have seen many vehicles in the ditches and center median's, and I even saw a vehicle that went through the fence off a highway and onto a sidewalk of a side street! Two easy things to make sure of when the roads get slick. Number one, and this is always first, check your tires and make sure they are in good condition. Don't try to get by, you will more than likely lose out. Second, drive for the conditions. Don't go faster than the conditions allow, or you will end up as a member of the ditch club. We are here to help out if something happens, but it's getting busy. We are at about a 3 week delay right now, and I am sure other shops will be in the same boat. So be understanding to the collision shop that you will chose for your repairs. We are working as fast as we can to fufill your needs.
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and you only have so many days of shopping until Christmas. But, no snow! Who would have thought we would see the temperature in the 50's in December? But, warm weather keeps the animals in the woods active, especially the deer. We seemed to have seen an increase in claims from deers hits compared to last year. So they are keeping us busy. As a reminder, if you need repairs, and repairs shops right now are running about a 2 week delay, be patient if you can. Unless your vehicle is not driveable, insurance companies will not provide rental replacement if your vehicle is in need of repair while you wait to get into a shop, or if you drop the vehicle off at a facility, and it will be days before the repairs can be started. We know that is frustrating, but we don't want you to be responsible for rental charges that can possibly be avoided. So be patient.
