J. Douglas Crane is one of two practitioners at the law firm of J. Douglas Crane, L.C., in Morgantown, West Virginia, where the practice concentrates in the areas of family law and bankruptcy. The practice has recently been expanded to include mediation, including both civil and family law, and he has been certified with the State of West Virginia as a divorce mediator. Mr. Crane is originally from Morgantown and graduated from Morgantown High in 1963. He attended West Virginia University from 1963 through 1968 and graduated from the College of Business with a B. A. in Industrial Management. He then went on to West Virginia University College of Law, graduated in 1972, and has been in private practice since then. Mr. Crane is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for both the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Professional memberships include the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Monongalia County Bar Association, serving as president from 1991 through 1992. He was appointed as the first Family Law Master for Monongalia and Preston Counties and served in that capacity from October 1986 to June 1990.
