Small upgrades to this landscape made a big improvement on the curb appeal. A front portico will soon be built out from the front door as well.
Fall is an ideal time to schedule your tree work because it’s the sweet spot between summer’s storms and winter’s winds.
Are my trees dying?!
It’s that time of year when we get flooded with concerns about evergreens. Every fall, evergreens shed their 3rd year needles. No need to panic if your trees look like the photos.
Because our sales teams don’t earn commissions for the work that they sell, they only recommend what is *necessary*.
Here’s why being a "tree-first" company matters and what it means for our clients: https://cvtslandscape.com/professional-consultation-vs-sales-call/
A quick sod installation before the weekend. Happy Friday!
When a client asks us to perform work that is contrary to our industry's standards (such as “topping”) we will gladly offer alternatives that meet their needs without putting the trees at risk.
Learn more about our "tree-first" approach here: https://cvtslandscape.com/professional-consultation-vs-sales-call/
Fall is for sod, planting, and so much more!
The only good thing about invasive insects is that they are predictable. There are specific points in their life cycles when insecticides will be most effective. Adding more treatments beyond those times won’t increase your chances of success - but they will cost you more money.
The schedule is no mystery or trade secret. We keep it right here on our website: https://cvtslandscape.com/plant-health-schedule/
Concerned about a tree on your property? Request a professional consultation with one of our ISA-Certified Arborists to determine if it can weather the storm.
Fall is here! Now is a perfect time to enjoy your outdoor space or make plans for a new one. Our landscaping team is here to help with beautiful hardscape designs.
Love being outside? Consider a new career in a fun, drug-free work environment with health, vision, and dental after 60 days. Apply now at https://cvtslandscape.com/jobs
Fall fertilizations and insect suppression treatments during the fall will have your trees thanking you in the spring time. 🌳
It would be a mistake to think that once we trade in our lawn mowers for leaf blowers that we are also finished thinking about our plant health needs. Learn more about insects, fertilization and other topics by reading https://cvtslandscape.com/fall-preparations-horticultural-oil/
Planting trees now gives them a cool, wet fall AND spring to become established before they have to withstand the summer’s harsh heat.
Fall planting season is in full swing. Today we are planting Serbian Spruce for some instant screening.
Winter's winds, snow and ice can be a deadly combination for trees. During these critical fall months, our arborists can perform inspections and prunings to make sure that your trees are up to the task.

Despite the mid and rain, our team is making progress and keeping the job site clean. We are getting close to the finish line for Themis renovation at the PA School Board Association.
Fall is a brief window of time between summer’s storms and winter’s blasts when we have a chance to repair the damage that has been done to our trees and take steps to prevent future problems. For the arborists at CVTS-L, this means tree inspections, prunings and – when necessary – removals. For our customers it means peace of mind. Learn more here: https://cvtslandscape.com/winterizing-trees-plants-landscapes/
When our plants start to go dormant for winter, there’s a temptation for us to do the same. However, there is actually a lot that we can do during this time to ensure that our plants thrive when they re-emerge in spring. CVTS-L's fall plant health care strategies include fertilizations and preemptive insect suppression. Learn more here: https://cvtslandscape.com/winterizing-trees-plants-landscapes/

Since large gatherings of people are out this year, Mont Alto’s annual Polar Plunge 🌊🥶🧊 is going digital in the form of a bucket challenge. While we’ll miss coming together as a group and diving into the freezing water, this new format allows everyone to participate wherever they are.
You can sponsor us at the link below, and we will be posting videos of CVTS-L staffers taking the challenge on December 4. The money raised helps fight childhood cancer and support impacted families.
Let’s come together (while staying home) and make this Polar Plunge🌊🥶🧊 the most successful one yet!

The 2020 Mont Alto Personal Polar Plunge 🌊🥶🧊 is a local fundraising initiative that contributes to Penn State THON (the largest student-run philanthropy in the world!). The money raised empowers THON to enhance the lives of families impacted by childhood cancer through support, awareness and research - all in search of a cure.
Throughout the month of November, you can help CVTS-L contribute to the fight and raise money and awareness by sponsoring us at the link below. Then, on December 4, we'll post our Polar Plunge 🌊🥶🧊 videos.

This quote is intended to convey a larger life lesson, but as arborists we can confirm that it’s also very true for the trees on your property.
Here are a few reasons to plant a tree (or trees) on your property this fall. https://cvtslandscape.com/fall-planting-trees-landscaping/
Last week we re-landscaped a steep transition in a client’s yard. Natural stone staircases, plants, and mulch.
We are participating in Penn State Mont Alto’s Polar Plunge🌊🥶🧊 to raise money to fight childhood cancer. This year the event is taking the form of an ice bucket challenge, and we will be posting videos of CVTS-L employees getting drenched with buckets of icy water on December 4.
If you want to help, but you'd rather not be drenched in icy water in December (yikes!), there are several ways that you can help:
1.) Sponsor us by donating at the link below.
2.) Share the link below.
3.) Use the hashtags #forthekids and #ftk when you share the link below.

Here’s a new front walkway for a client in Mechanicsburg. The goal was to create a wider, more inviting entry to the home.
“Hey, can you make my stump disappear?”
We get asked that all the time, and the answer, of course, is YES, but sometimes people are surprised when we have questions for *them.*
Questions like:
"What happens *after* the stump is gone?"
The best advice we can give a prospective stump grinding customer is to begin with the end result in mind.
The second-best advice is to learn more about the stump grinding process and explore the possibilities here:

By now, you may have heard that CVTS-L is participating in Penn State Mont Alto’s 2020 Personal Polar Plunge 🌊🥶🧊 to fight children’s cancer (we've been posting about it a lot - have you contributed yet?). What you might not know is that there are *many* connections between Mont Alto and CVTS-L.
In 1985, George Pogue Jr. formally joined CVTS-L after receiving a degree in Forestry from Penn State Mont Alto, and the relationship has only grown deeper from there through our employees, projects and philanthropy.
Learn more about the Polar Plunge 🌊🥶🧊 and the history of CVTS-L and Penn State here:

We took the Mont Alto Personal Polar Plunge to fight childhood cancer. Due to the pandemic, the yearly polar plunge into Cowans Gap was not possible. As a result, this alternative platform is used to continue raising money for THON. This video is a collaborative effort between our 4 offices, all of which have strong ties between staff and Penn State. A huge thank you goes to our staff for helping and supporting this cause. Thank you for those have already supported us online and three days still remain!

Every year we get calls about evergreen trees that are changing color and dropping a substantial number of needles. The good news is that it’s most likely just the tree’s natural growth process, and it’s nothing to worry about. It rarely requires a consultation from our Plant Health Care division. Protecting and preserving your trees 🌿
While you are in a "new year, new you" mindset, consider extending those improvements to the property around your home. Here are three commitments that you can make today to keep the trees and plants on your property strong all year long.
1.) TREE CARE
Now is an ideal time to schedule prunings, consultations and assessments so you can avoid winter storm damage and make sure that you're ready for spring.
2.) LANDSCAPING
As with any meaningful improvement to yourself or your property, if you wait until spring, you've waited too long. Now is the time to start discussing your project with our landscape design professionals so we can get you on the schedule as soon as possible.
3. PLANT HEALTH CARE
Enrollment in our "Green Solutions Plant Health Care Program" ensures that a PHC specialist is visiting your property and inspecting your plants throughout the growing season. When it comes the health of your plants, prevention is almost always easier than remediation.
The estimator, landscape design professional or tree crew that visits your property is backed by a company with a forty-year history and a management team with decades of experience (individually *and* combined) in tree care, plant health care and landscaping. Our three departments and four branch offices are in constant conversation with each other to ensure that we deliver the best arboricultural and horticultural solutions for our customers.

CVTS-L was born out of a spirit of mentorship back in 1978. Accordingly, our approach to management has always been as much about raising people up as it has been about bringing trees down.
This ongoing commitment to improvement and mentorship is one of the reasons that George Pogue Jr. was the Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce’s “Business Person of the Year.”

We are excited with the progress on our new mechanic’s garage. This will be a tremendous upgrade as our three talented mechanics take care of an ever-growing fleet.
After he became an ISA Certified Arborist, George Pogue Jr. saw that there was a better way to perform tree work. From that point on, the arborist's knowledge - in the form of consultations - would have value in addition to the services rendered on the property.
Pogue’s continual raising of the bar – in terms of customer service, professional presentation and continuing education – is one of the reasons he was the Chamber of Commerce’s “Business Person of the Year.”
