Here are some great new habits to start your day. Starting your day in a positive way creates the momentum for your whole day to go great.
I am a professional procrastinator! So I love this board this week. I have a habit of starting projects that never get finished. So I'm hoping these tips will help me change my ways.
I think it is important to keep growing and to keep learning. Finding new hobbies that help you do that is so important.
I loved this board this week. I was such a good reminder to myself that almost all of the excuses I come up with for procrastination are just that, excuses.
The hamstrings are an often over looked muscle that can cause low back pain. The hamstrings are a group of 3 muscles in the posterior part of your thigh that attach from your knee to your sit bone. If they are tight they will pull down on the pelvis which can create pain in the low back. So keeping them stretched helps decrease low back pain. (Remember not all stretches are good for all people. If there is pain with any of these stretches, stop immediately.)
I love this and I believe I have posted it before, but I think that this holds true now more than ever. I believe that what we think and what we say helps create the world around us. If your thoughts and words reflect fear, anger, and judgment the world around you will seem like a dark and scary place. If your thoughts and words reflect hope, kindness, and compassion imagine the type of world you would create for yourself.
As we come into the less sunny time of year here in Michigan I always like to remind people to have their Vitamin D levels checked. We need sunlight to make Vitamin D and people are often deficient this time of year. An easy blood test can check for this.
When we hang on to negative emotions about people, situations, or ourselves it weighs you down and prevents you from seeing the beauty in the world around you. It also prevents you from feeling the joy and happiness that is being brought into your life. Letting go of that negativity gives you the opportunity to heal and grow, and bring peace into your life.
Seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.) is a type of depression that comes with the change of seasons. The decrease in sunlight is the main cause of S.A.D. and much more prevalent in Northern states. There are many ways to combat S.A.D. naturally, but do not be afraid to ask your doctor for help.
I like this board this morning. I have heard a lot of patients talk about stress and mental health in the last few weeks. Here are some good reminders for those hard days. Remember to reach out to people you know. You do not have to go through the hard times alone.
Your gut bacteria health is extremely important for your immune system and brain health. These three systems are very interconnected. So taking care of your gut health will improve your health over all.
We were able to get our windows painted for the fall! As always Tanja did an amazing job!
Just because you are not sick does not mean you are healthy. Making sure that you are caring for yourself physically and mentally is vitally important also. Taking time for self care. Take a walk, talk to a friend, read a book, listen to a TEDtalk. Make sure you are taking time for self care to be Healthy!
Our phones are down due to the storm yesterday. But the office is open and we are seeing patients as normal.
Keeping the brain healthy as we age is vitally important! Here are some simple every day things you can do to keep your brain active and healthy.
Henry, the skeleton says Happy Halloween! Stay safe and stay healthy out there everyone!
Still following our Heart Disease Awareness Month theme. Here is some basic information on recognizing a stroke. If you think you are a love one is having a stroke the most important thing is to get treatment immediately. The faster you seek treatment the less damage a stroke can cause and the more likely you will recover well.
Today is Go Red For Women Day. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in this country. Often women have signs of a heart attack that can be explained away. Besides the typical chest, neck, back, and jaw pain, nausea, and left arm pain. Women often have symptoms such as severe fatigue, anxiety, and indigestion. All which can often be explained away as stress. Preventing women from seeking the help they need.
February is heart disease awareness month. A subject very close to my heart (no pun intended). All month long I will be posting educational boards to help with awareness and information on how to keep your heart healthy! This Friday February 5th is Wear Red for Women Day. Women often have different symptoms of heart attack to men and those symptoms are often over looked.
We all need a little bit of helping setting new goals for the new year. If you're like me I have always had a hard time keeping new years resolutions. Most of the time it comes down to poor planning. Here are 10 things to think about and questions to answer that will help you achieve any new years goals.
This is one of my favorite quotes. There may be 7.5 billion people on this Earth, but there is no one quite like you. Yes you live in this Universe, but you are made up of star dust, and shine just as bright.
