Knife of the Week
This week I picked the Zero Tolerance 0450CF to showcase the combination of style and functionality that come together in a sleek gentleman’s knife when you want to dress-up your EDC.
The 0450 is a Dmitry Sinkevich design, just on a smaller scale than the 0462 which has an overall length of 8.9”. The 0450 comes in an inch and a half shorter at 7.4” and weighs nearly an ounce and a half lighter at just 2.4oz. That’s not to say the 0450CF is a wimpy knife at all. Three and a quarter inches of CPM-S35VN steel gives you plenty of slicing power. Add to that the DLC coating on the blade and the business end of this knife is good to go.
I think the best feature of the 0450CF is not the blade or the size but rather the striking look of a Carbon Fiber front scale matched with the black coating on the blade. The back scale is DLC coated titanium matching the blade for an overall sleek look.
The action on this knife is the smooth performance of ZT’s flipper style matched with their KVT ball bearing assembly. One small flick and it’s out, open, and ready.

This week we have a pick from Andrew as our new spotlighted knife:
This week, I have chosen the Tri-Folder from our line of Fred Perrin products, imported from France. I picked this one because I feel it is one of the coolest knives we have to open, and it is so much fun to mess with.
This knife has stainless steel pieces for the handle, and a 440C stainless steel blade. The reason I say handle pieces is due to there being two parts of the handle that move in order to access the blade, as well as too lock it in place, as this knife is like a bali-song, with no traditional lock mechanism. This is a modern recreation of an older French knife design, and since it does not have a lock, is legal in Europe.
This is a very versatile design, it is light and easy to carry, and does not have a pocket clip, so nobody will be able to tell you are carrying a knife. The Tri-Folder resembles a large USB stick when closed.
In order to open the knife, you have to move one handle piece at a time, which does require some practice, but, like using a bali-song, is fun to kill the time learning. Once you get the opening and closing down, it is very smooth and fast, so fast that others will not be able to tell how you did it.
We are planning to do a video here at the store in order to show how the knife operates, so stay tuned for that. But make sure to come in and try this unusual design yourself.
And as a reminder, we are up and going with the laser engraver, running it everyday, with roughly a one day turn around, so see us for that personalized gift this autumn.
