Great time out on the water yesterday for the SabreStorm Big Birch Bonanza presented by Gatr Truck Center. We had 11 boats make it out on the water! Not even COVID and a closed landing or two could stop us from getting out on the water. Thanks for your patience! Special thanks to the volunteer boat captains once again for helping out.
Big night for the team of Jackson Herbst, Brady Lorette and Virgil Helmin. They take home the win by a sizeable margin. They were the only boat to catch a Crappie. They also added a Northern Pike for some solid points and tied for first in the highly competitive Sunfish category. Variety is the spice of life! Tied for second were the teams of Ian Cairns, Andrew Markfelder, Dan Cairns and Nate Schliepsiek, Nick Schliepsiek, Drew Danielson. The Cairns team had solid finishes in the Largemouth and Smallmouth categories, while the Danielson Team won the Largemouth category with a couple of solid fish. In third place was the team of Adam Sundby, Mitchell Dorn and John Sundby. They tied for first in the Sunfish category. We have some random photos from the event in this post. Also, boat captain Marty Toole won the random prize for boat captains. A detail cleaning kit provided by D & B Auto Body! Congrats Marty and thanks for being a great boat captain.

The SabreStorm Virtual Bonanza presented by D & B Auto Body went down on Saturday as well. The event lived up to the name. This was a multi-species event (Carp, Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Sunfish and Walleye). There were 20 teams that participated and over 50 people that fished! The river did seem a little busier than normal on Saturday! Team Markfelder (Andrew, Austin and Russell) took home the victory by catching SIX different species during the day! The team of Logan Clark, Grant Clark and Joe Austin won 2nd place, propelled by their wins in the Catfish and Crappie categories. Tied for third were team Christman (Elizabeth, Julia and Scott) and team Rudolph (Jacob and Bob). They both had nice catches in multiple fish species. The SabreStorm Spring 2020 virtual tournament curbside prize pick up was a success tonight, thanks to all that showed and collected their awards. St.Croix Rods were handed out as well as some Pflueger fishing reels and Scheels gift cards. Everyone that entered a fish in the FishDonkey app received a prize! Our Crappie winner was Eric Paulsen and Sunfish winner was Elizabeth Christman, congrats to you guys!
Our SabreStorm Summer Classic 2020 virtual tournament is already in progress. We have seen a bunch of great entries already, keep them coming. While many of our events have been cancelled because of COVID, we are still trying provide opportunities for area youth. We couldn't do it without sponsors, especially during all of this mess. Just wanted to let all current and future customers know that we are still here for you. While we respect the fact that there is a major virus floating around out there, we are hard at work as usual. Some of our customers have so graciously waited for 3 months to get an appointment. While we are committed to getting the job done and carrying on with business as usual, we understand the fear that comes with something like this and are more than happy to do contact free drop off and pickup. We have a key dropbox for drop off and an app for payment if customers so wish. We are also still writing estimates and you are free to stop in for an estimate and remain in your vehicle or maintain a 6' distance if you feel more comfortable that way. If you wish wait in your car while we write an estimate please call to let us know you are outside waiting.

We just had our year end meeting via Zoom and it was great to look back on all of the events we had over the Summer, eight different events to be exact. Some questioned if we would even be able to have a season this year. We did indeed and probably had our most active year so far. The fact that we could go virtual for all of our events made it possible and I know that it really gave our team members something to look forward to as the fishing season took place. Thanks to everyone that participated! Special shout out to our Boat Captains of the Year, Miguel Iriarte and Bob Rudolph. Couldn't make it happen without your help! Lastly, congratulations to our Angler of the Year, Blake Legatt. Blake is currently a Junior at Sartell High School and his participation and leadership at our SabreStorm events were very much appreciated!
