Many of you might know my dad had it and died last year. My mom is now in the advanced stages of it and is on hospice at my house. Below is one of my favorite pictures of them, taken sometime in the early 70s.

This is a drawing of Major Nicholson, or Nic to his friends. He was a member of the US Army Liaison Mission (USMLM) in Berlin, Germany. He was involved in gathering intelligence on a Soviet tank on March 24, 1985. When he was exiting the tank (parked in a Soviet Army facility) he was shot by a Soviet Army guard. A friend of mine, LTC (R) John Boles was on that mission with Nic. The Soviets refused to call an ambulance and would not allow John to provide first aid, resulting in Nicholson bleeding to death. A few weeks later the Soviets released his body to the US Army on the Glienicke Brucke (the spy swapping bridge). President Reagan called him the last casualty of the Cold War.
