To celebrate Black History Month, we wanted to pay tribute to a very important woman- Dr. Ida Gray Nelson Rollins. 🦷
Dr. Rollins became the first African American female dentist in 1890. A former seamstress, she attended the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry, owned a dental practice in Cincinnati, and then opened a dental practice right here in Chicago! 🦷
Her achievements are not only impressive, but they were vital for the Black community, which had a difficult time finding dental care. 🦷

As a nod to Children's Dental Health Month, here is a #makeovermonday post showing the transformation of a baby tooth made to look like an adult tooth! 👶
Up to 7% of adults have a retained primary or baby tooth. Dental implants are often the most successful tooth replacement option. 🦷
But in this case we were able to fill out her smile very conservatively by adding composite filling/bonding material to this baby molar and sculpting it to look like an adult premolar tooth. She didn't even have to get numbed up to get these quick and beautiful results!
