About

Like many young men of an entrepreneurial spirit in the prime of their life, Walter saw an opportunity to start and grow a needed business. This era was a time of rapid advancement in the Trucking Industry in Dayton, and Walter worked tirelessly to grow the company by providing superior parts and services. Walter retired in 1985 after more than 30 years of work serving the trucking industry, and was succeeded as President by Gene Schindler until his retirement in 1991. Today the company is headed by Walter's son Keith Knight. As President, Keith has continued his father's focus on providing superior services to various markets including: Heavy Duty Trucking, Agriculture, Automotive and Light Truck, High Performance Vehicles, and Industrial Equipment. The company started in Dayton in a small shop on Dutoit Street and in 1964 moved to a larger facility on Warren St. Today's location is on Troy St. which has been expanded twice since the move there in 1971. The Troy St location has an on-site parts warehouse inventory with thousands of parts and a state-of-the-art repair shop facilities. In 1974 Dayton Clutch and Joint expanded to a second location in Lima Ohio and now operates there as Lima Clutch and Joint. Both locations are area leaders in drive train repair and distribution. These facilities use the latest in specialized equipment and have a dedicated staff committed to quality service and repair workmanship. These operations remain family owned and operated and are recognized industry leaders with a reputation of providing quality products and services. These operations are designed to handle custom work as easy as standard jobs with service that is fast, reliable and friendly. Dayton Clutch is glad to help! Love our vets and a good Jeep project to boot. JOURNAL-NEWS.COM McCrabb: Strangers help man with ALS rebuild Jeep for one more ride
We remember. Everyone has a story about this day in 2001. We would love to hear yours... My uncle didn't work at the towers, but he would have been under it. There is a subway station that sits underneath them that collapsed also. He took his dog the the vet and was taking his son to school. His son begged him to stop at the park for just a little while and swing because the day was so nice. My uncle really needed to get into work and didn't want to set a bad example by making him late either- but setting the example of being a kind and loving father was more important. He was swinging his kid on the swing breathing the fall air when he saw the smoke. He didn't really do that math until days later, but sobbed when he realized that he would have been right underneath when the towers fell if he hadn't decided to play with his son for 15 minutes instead.

Historia Obscurum May 24 at 7:39 PM · This is Private First Class Dan Bullock, who served as a rifleman in Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, at An Hoa Combat Base in the Quảng Nam Province, near the border between North and South Vietnam. On June 7, 1969, his base was attacked. While fighting from a bunker with three other Marines, a North Vietnamese soldier hurled a satchel of explosives in on top of them. It detonated, and killed all four of them. Bullock, however, should not even have been there - he was only 15 years old. When Bullock enlisted the year before at the age of 14, he had changed his birth certificate to make it show that he was old enough to serve. Dan Bullock planned on returning home and becoming either a police officer or firefighter. Instead, he became the youngest United States serviceman killed in the Vietnam War. When a New York Times reporter asked Bullock's father about his son's death, he replied, "My son had no business in that damn war." Bullock's body was returned to his birthplace in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he was buried. For 31 years, Bullock's grave had no marker, until television talk show host Sally Jessy Raphael heard his story in 2000 and purchased one for him. Dan Bullock's name is on Panel 23W, Line 96, of the Vietnam Wall. #MemorialDayMATTERS
