Rafael De La Garza was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. Mr. De La Garza grew up surrounded by a strong hard-working family who continuously emphasized the importance of an education. Motivated by the opportunities for advancement provided by an education, and the ambition to succeed, Mr. De La Garza understood very early on that education was essential. Mr. De La Garza attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, in three years. Upon graduation, Mr. De La Garza was admitted to University of Houston Law Center, where he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence in only two and a half years.
During his time in law school, Mr. De La Garza worked at a prominent personal injury law firm. During this time, Mr. De La Garza worked on car/trucking accident cases, refinery explosions, workplace injuries and other related cases.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. De La Garza worked for a civil litigation firm in South Texas. Mr. de la Garza is admitted to practice in Texas, in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. De La Garza’s practice now focuses on workplace accidents, workers’ compensation retaliation, trucking/car accident cases, and cases against negligent funeral homes and cemeteries for the mishandling of recently deceased individuals. Mr. De La Garza is fluent in English and Spanish. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association.
