Deb Bibby Blakely, PA-C, was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She became interested in practicing medicine by doing volunteer work after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Deb worked in nursing for the Air Force and got her degree from the University of Washington as a Physician Assistant. After graduating, she worked for 10 years as a family practice provider, caring for patients of all ages and also taught physician assistant students during their clinical year of training.
Since coming to work at MUSC in internal medicine in 2014, Deb has been caring for patients with both acute health concerns and those with various chronic diseases. She has served on various committees, including the Patient Advisory Council and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and is currently working with the students in the physician assistant program at MUSC. Her clinical interests include hypertension, diabetes, preventive care, and orthopedic joint injections.
