RE: DeCice Hall COVID-19 Closure. Posted Friday, March 13, 2020. Updated April 24, 2020. The Daughters of the Heart of Mary are aware of the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around the world and the growingnumber of cases in the US. In consideration of the wellbeing of everyone, and with special concern for the Marian Center residents and staff, we have discerned to close public access to DeCice Hall at the Marian Center until May1st. The Marian Center residence itself remains open but with limited, monitored access.
As a spiritual community the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary has a social responsibility to protect the well being, safety, and happiness of our visiting guests and residential community. We also wish to support the spirit of recommendations currently being proposed around the world, namely to avoid unnecessary travel and large gatherings bringing diverse populations close together.
We regret that for now we will not be able to host members of the public at events as the 3rd Session of the Savage-Keator Lenten Seminar, First Friday and Third Saturday film screenings, JCamp-180, Just-Faith gatherings, Lower Valley Irish Slow Session, the Junior League of Greater Springfield, the Consortium Program Directors, theWalk for a New Spring, the Anti-Oppression Screening of Filiberto, and Behavioral Health Network Trainings. Organizers for cancelled events may well offer make-up sessions later on.
It is uncertain how this virus outbreak will develop and what Massachusetts and what national and local health authorities will recommend. In the case of a change in the closure dates, we will do ourbest to inform everyone as soon as possible.
Rest assured that we will review and update this decision over the coming weeks as the situation evolves. Although present conditions will not permit us to welcome members of the public to meet in DeCice Hall until further notice, we hope that everyone will make the most of the time we are given to enjoy the blessings of life and share them with others.
Happy 7th Anniversary, Lower Valley Irish Slow Session. Have a great session tonight in DeCice Hall!
