New Jersey understands the challenges that working families with children face. The revised FY2021 budget Governor Phil Murphy recently signed still allocates $250 million in funding from the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund, “which will provide additional support to children and their families as well as for thousands of child care providers with resources.”

Here’s a piece of history: in 1844, Macon Bolling Allen became the first licensed African American lawyer in the country. He also became a Massachusetts Justice of the Peace in 1848, which made him the first African American to hold a judicial role. He later went on to establish the first known African American law firm in the country with two other African American attorneys, William Whipper and Robert Elliott.

The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act, passed by the New Jersey Legislature last month, would significantly alter the cannabis industry in our state. Some of the main provisions include state-regulated legalization of cannabis use for adults, decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana, and removing its classification as a Schedule I drug.
