In winter, when the days are shorter, we tend to end up driving more at night. For those of us without perfect eyesight, this can be an increasingly stressful adjustment to make every year, and we should all take the dangers of night driving into careful consideration. It won't just make a difference to our own lives but to the lives of those we encounter on the road. Haven't had your eyes checked in a while? Did you know that protecting your eyesight is one of the essential things we can do to maintain a good life quality? One in six adults deals with a sight-threatening eye problem, and many more than that will experience increasing vision loss with age. Leading causes of blindness and low vision are age-related diseases such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. So take good care of your eyes! Did you know that your eyes require a minimum of five hours of sleep every night to replenish and function throughout the day properly? This goes way beyond being able to keep your eyes open. Not getting enough sleep for prolonged periods can host eye strain, twitchy eyelids, and dry eyes. Fortunately, merely increasing your sleep will give your eyes the rest they need to put these symptoms at bay. Nevertheless, it’s always best to keep your eyes well-rested to remain healthy and comfortable for your everyday use. #eyecare #optometrist #eyewear #vision #optometry #eyes #eyedoctor #eyehealth #houston

We are excited to announce that we are reopening Friday, May 8th. To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, we will be following the requirements from the CDC, the Texas Board of Optometry, and the Governor of Texas. Please be patient as we work to ensure everyone is seen as safely and quickly as possible. Listed below are a few changes to keep our staff and patients safe. Changes for patients: 1. All patients will be required to bring their own mask/face covering and wear it at all times while in the office or we can provide a disposable mask for a $2 fee. Without use of a mask, we will not be able to see you as a patient during the COVID pandemic due to the safety of our patients and staff. 2. Patients may not have another person accompany them during their visit unless they are a parent of a minor or a caregiver. 3. We will be asking everyone to wash/sanitize their hands prior to check-in. After washing your hands, we will be conducting a temperature check. We sanitize all of our pens and laminated forms after each use. 5. We ask that you please strictly adhere to social distancing in our office. 6. If you have been sick within the past 3 weeks or have been around anyone that has been sick in the past 3 weeks, we kindly ask you to reschedule your appointment and refrain from coming to our office and possibly put others at risk. Changes implemented in-office: 1. All staff are required to have on masks at all times when working with patients. Hand washing and sanitizing are practiced continuously throughout day. 2. At-risk patients (such as those over 65, immunocompromised, or those with underlying health conditions) will be offered the first several spots of the schedule each day or first spot after lunch to minimize their exposure to others. 3. Appointment times have been spaced out and you may be asked to wait in car/walk around to minimize the number of patients in our office at a given time. We will contact you when Doctor is ready to see you. 4. We constantly disinfect high traffic areas and surfaces patients are in contact with in our office multiple times a day to keep everyone safe. Thank you so much for your continued support of small locally-owned businesses like ours. We miss our patients, and we are very confident the changes we have made will keep our staff and patients safe. To schedule an appointment, please call: 281-446-0440 or schedule online: https://local.lenscrafters.com/eyedoctors/tx/humble/20131-highway-59.html We look forward to taking care of all of your Eyecare needs.

Chances are, you remember going to the school nurse when you were growing up for a simple eye test. You would cover one eye at a time and then read off lines from the large E chart to find out if you needed glasses or not. Well, as efficient as this type of simple test might seem, these types of vision screenings fail to catch all the things that could potentially be wrong with a child’s eyesight. Anytime vision remains undiagnosed, they have serious potential to negatively impact a child’s learning and social development. Haven't had your eyes checked in a while? Accidents can happen. The most common eye injuries are a foreign substance or object getting into the eye. If something gets in your eye, avoid touching it and get to the hospital. Foreign objects can usually be flushed out with water. Whereas foreign substances generally require flushing with water for as much as 20 minutes to help wash it out and minimize any discomforting effects. Haven't had your eyes checked in a while? As we get older, our eyes don’t function as they used to. However, there are many things we can do to keep our eyes healthy. For instance, staying active is great for the health of your eyes. Studies have shown that less active people tend to show more significant vision loss as they age compared to people who stay active. Therefore you can be doing yourself and your eyes a big favor by finding ways to maintain an active lifestyle. Haven't had your eyes checked in a while?
