Three out of the five most common concussion symptoms are cognitive complaints. (Polinder, et al. 2018)
When looking at the symptoms that occur after concussion, five of the most common symptoms that occur include fatigue, headaches, taking longer to think, poor memory, and poor concentration.
This strong prevalence of cognitive symptoms after concussion makes this topic one that should not be overlooked. Understanding the relationship between cognition, intelligence, and brain function allows clinicians to better diagnose and treat a variety of conditions in order to improve human functionality.
