Let’s talk Ankle Fractures...
From watching video of the #dakprescott injury, it was likely an comminuted ankle fracture. These can easily cause tinting of the skin or an open wound based on the forces applied. He came down on his foot and the external rotation of the foot on the ankle likely fractured his medial malleolus and fibula. It’s pretty amazing if you watch him a few seconds after the Injury, he instinctively stomps his leg and self reduced (or partially reduced) the ankle. Hopefully it didn’t do any damage to the cartilage of the ankle joint when he did so. The plan will likely be early surgery with hardware to stabilize the fracture fragments with early mobilization and functional rehab to start soon after. Hopefully he rehabs and is able to return before next season. Sad to see one of the good ones go down, but hopefully he won’t have much term sequela from the injury.
