Gay had always had really dark teeth due to a type of stain from a medication, called Tetracycline, as a child. It had always been a part of her smile and identity. Over the years while the stain persisted, the function of her teeth was off and as a result she ended up wearing the front teeth down. With the wear and the stain, it finally got to the point where she wanted to restore and enhance her smile. Through porcelain crowns, veneers and bridges we were able to restore her smile to one that not only functions as it should but also looks amazing. Now she can’t stop smiling to show off her new smile. #DQC #DentistryoftheQueenCity #CharlotteDentist #CosmeticDentist #BestofCharlotte #ReasontoSmile #QueenCityDentist #SmileonQueenCity
Your health is our priority! With the recent mandate from Governor Cooper, we ask that you please wear a face mask to your appointment. If you don’t have a mask, don’t worry, we will happily provide you one. Thank you for helping us keep our patients and team members safe!
We hope everyone is staying healthy! We really miss creating beautiful smiles like this one and can’t wait to be back doing what we love! Karen was so much fun to work with to help her recreate her smile. She had a lot of dental work several years ago and she was ready to upgrade the esthetics of her smile. Over time her teeth had shifted and the shade that was selected many years ago wasn’t as white as what she wanted this time around. We were able to design her teeth to take advantage of the full potential of her beautiful smile. Also, with the help of a master lab technician, Shoji Suruga, CDT @BVDL and new advanced dental materials, we were able to nail this one! If you have some older dental work that does not have the appearance that you want please contact us to discuss what Dr. Reece and the team at Dentistry of the Queen City can do for you!
We are all well and healthy! We miss you all and can’t wait to be back in the office! What is everyone doing to stay sane during quarantine?
This morning we decided to close our office for the week due to the ongoing development of this pandemic. Below is our official statement. In addition to the North Carolina Dental Board of Examiners recent recommendation “that all elective non urgent care be postponed” we will stay closed for the week at this time and closely follow for any updates. Dear Valued Patient, At Dentistry of the Queen City, our highest priority has always been the health and safety of our patients and staff. As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve, we have a unique responsibility to care for those who need treatment urgently while mitigating risk of transmission as much as possible. As many of you may know there have been recommendations in some areas that elective procedures be postponed. While we disagree with the term “elective” being associated with dental care, we believe that the spirit these recommendations is to delay all non-emergent treatment. For our purposes, here, we will define a dental emergency as pain or swelling. While the state of North Carolina has not made any recommendations or mandates, we feel it is our responsibility to do our part to limit the spread of this disease. All over the world, the best deterrent for the spread of COVID-19 has been social distancing. Since people can be carriers of the virus without being symptomatic, there is no reliable way to screen patients prior to seeing them. In other words, by the time you have a fever, you may have spread the virus for several days, unknowingly. That is a not a risk that our practice is willing to take. These social distancing measures are vital to ensuring that our hospital systems don’t become overwhelmed. For these reasons, Dentistry of the Queen City will be closed the week of March 16th (3/16/2020-3/20/2020) to ensure the health and safety of our patients, staff and the population at large. If you are scheduled this week, we will be calling you to re-schedule. If you feel you have an emergency as stated above, we will review your case over the phone and determine if you should be seen in person on a case by case basis. Please be patient with us as we navigate this uncharted territory. This is a decision that was not made lightly, but with your best interest at heart. Our goal has always been to serve you in the safest way possible, and we will make every effort to do so. With gratitude, Dr. Reece and the Dentistry of the Queen City team
This was such a fun case and a great display of conservative dentistry. She had always wanted to close the space between her two front teeth on both the top and the bottom. We were able to leave all of her tooth structure intact and do this completely additive. On the top we used composite bonding to close the spacing between her two front teeth to blend in seamlessly with her remaining tooth structure and smile. In the lower we opted to add an “extra tooth” to close the spacing. We chose to use a layered zirconia Maryland bridge to accomplish this (ceramics by Shoji Suruga @bvdlva ). I was so happy with the way this turned out because the esthetic result, the fact that this was completely additive and that we were able to give this young lady the smile she had always wanted. #compositeveneers #dentistry #dentist #dental #teeth #health #smile #cosmeticdentistry #beforeandafter #charlottenc #queencity #generaldentist

Do you ever come across those people who can instantly light up a room with their positivity. Well, Gaye is one of those people. We had such a great time upgrading her upper denture to give her a more functional and esthetic smile. Because of the lower teeth failing we decided to transition her to a full lower as well. Esthetically we had a great result on the top and bottom and the fit and retention of her upper denture is so spot on, we decided to hold off on implants to help hold them stable. We will plan to transition her to and implant retained lower denture once the implants have healed to give her that added retention that she desires. #DQC #dentistryofthequeencity #Charlottedentist #charlottecosmeticdentistry #denturescanbeesthetictoo #formfollowsfunction #Smileon

When you think about dentistry, your airway probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But the airway can have a huge impact on dental and overall health. Here are just a few consequences we notice with an altered airway: -poor sleep -increased size of the tonsils and adenoids -bruxism (grinding of teeth) -snoring -GERD -poor diet -increased fatigue -increased facial pain Check out our new blog for more information.
