We got worms!
Why do we have worms and what is vermicomposting?
Worm castings, worm poop, black gold or whatever you want to call it, all consists of the same thing: highly concentrated, nutrient-packed fertilizer that you can use in the garden. Worm composting teaches them core values such as responsibilities and respect for life. Giving simple responsibilities to the kids such as checking on the compost system once a day and refilling it with fresh biodegradable materials. They will use their leftovers after lunch to help feed our worms.
Benefits of Vermicomposting for the garden:
Improves the physical structure of the soil
Enriches soil with micro-organisms
Microbial activity in worm castings is 10 to 20 times higher than in the soil and organic matter that the worm ingests
Improves water holding capacity
Enhances germination, plant growth, and crop yield
Improves root growth and structure
Reduces amount of waste going to landfills

Hello sprouts ☺
We made these beautiful talking sticks today. Teaching the kids to practice taking turns when talking and being mindful when others are holding the stick. We talked about sharing the stick with their family during Thanksgiving and talk about something they are grateful for. Hope you all get a chance to pass the stick and share. Happy Thanksgiving 😊

Our garden classroom 😀
Each kiddo has their own planting pocket. We are currently growing an herb garden and learning about different recipes we can create.
Loose parts are important for learning & play!
"We are there to set up the environment, provide materials, spark their interests and ultimately facilitate their learning. ... Loose parts enable kids to direct their own play."
