According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, last year in Wisconsin there were 18,414 reported deer/vehicle crashes resulting in injuries to 556 motorists and nine fatalities (six were motorcyclists). Be alert, slow down and buckle up!

It's no secret that vehicle vs. deer crashes peak this time of year in Wisconsin. But do you know the peak times of day when you are most likely to hit a deer? WisDOT traffic data shows that most vehicle/deer crashes happen during early mornings and evenings.
To avoid deer crashes and motorist injuries, we offer the following tips:
☑️ Slow down, eliminate distractions, and make sure all vehicle occupants are buckled up.
☑️ If you see one deer cross in front of you, watch for more. One long blast from your vehicle’s horn may frighten the deer away.
☑️ If a collision with a deer is unavoidable, brake firmly and stay in your lane. Avoid sudden swerving, it can result in loss of vehicle control and a more serious crash.
☑️ If you hit a deer: Get your vehicle safely off the road if possible and call law enforcement. Be prepared to describe your specific location.
☑️ It’s generally safest to stay buckled-up inside your vehicle. Walking along a highway is always dangerous as you could be struck by another vehicle.
It's National Family Caregivers Month. It is all too often that the caregivers are overlooked until you know a loved one that depends on them day to day. Take the time to thank a caregiver. They are a godsend to many.
