Doris Clark-Lewis is a retired Tuberculosis Nurse Consultant for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. She received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Hampton University (formerly Hampton Institute) in Hampton, Virginia. She received a Masters of Arts Degree in Community Health Nursing and a Masters of Public Health Administration from New York University.
Doris Clark-Lewis invented the line of “Easy No-Tuck Sheets” and “No-Tuck Blankets” after caring for a friend who as a result of an illness was unable to make her own bed. This new concept in bedding apparel consists of a fitted bottom sheet which has the pressure pleated top sheet securely attached at the foot with a hook and loop fastener which can be attached or reattached in seconds. One person can have feet covered and another can have feet uncovered. The non-elasticized bottom sheet fits the curvature of the mattress which enhances durability and wearing time. The matching pillowcase shaped like an envelope holds the pillow in place preventing it from falling out of the pillowcase as is the case with conventional pillow cases. Washing is a cinch since both top and bottom sheets are left attached and washed as one unit which makes making your bed easier and faster . . . under 3 minutes.
Doris Clark-Lewis is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Air Force. For several years she was a member of the New Jersey Air National Guard where she served in the capacity of a Primary Care Nurse and the Public Health Officer. At retirement she was the highest ranking black female in the New Jersey Air National Guard. As a civilian she has worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and public health agencies where she served in the capacity of Staff Nurse, Supervisor, Assistant Director and Consultant.
Her revolutionary new design in bedding apparel has bedazzled and impressed consumers. The average homemaker has welcome relief from the monotonous pulling, tugging and spreading sheets on beds that can, at times, lead to some serious frustrations.
