Dr. Basden received her undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and earned a master's degree in nutrition and foods from Auburn University in Alabama. Her interest in nutrition led her to Australia, where she completed a graduate program on a Rotary Graduate Scholarship. She worked as a registered dietitian at the Texas Medical Center in Houston for five years prior to medical school. She became interested in medicine while working as a clinical dietitian in the surgical ICU of Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Basden earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. She completed an internship at the University of Texas Affiliated Training Programs in Houston and a residency in radiation oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following residency, Dr. Basden was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Basden holds medical licenses in Arizona and Texas. While she enjoys caring for all types of cancer patients, she has particular interest and expertise in breast, gynecologic and prostate cancers.
