Don Y. Park, MD

About

Dr. Don Young Park is a Board Certified, fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon with a particular interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal deformity, spine tumor, and spinal trauma. Dr. Park is the Vice Chair of Quality and Safety for the department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCLA.
Dr. Park was born and raised in Los Angeles. He is proud to be an alumnus of UCLA and now part of the faculty at UCLA.
Dr. Park received his medical degree from the UCSD School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and spine surgery fellowship at Stanford. During residency and fellowship, Dr. Park published groundbreaking research in stem cell transplantation in spinal cord injury using the rat model. For his efforts, he was awarded the Cervical Spine Research Society 1st place Fellow Research Award in 2011. He was also awarded the Research Award at Stanford upon graduation. Dr. Park is currently a reviewer for The Spine Journal, the Global Spine Journal and Spine. He has authored both basic science and clinical peer-reviewed journal articles as well as written textbook chapters in spine surgery. Dr. Park has presented his research both internationally and nationally.
He has a special interest in medical education and clinical research, which brought him to academic medicine at UCLA. Dr. Park's rigorous attention to detail, conservative approach to spinal disorders, excellent surgical technique, and utmost dedication to his patients have produced exceptional clinical results for his patients.
