Dr. Donald Russo co-founded Tennessee Heart in 1984. He is a graduate of the State University of New York School of Medicine, completed internship and residency at the University of Southern California, completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center and post Fellowship training at the Montreal Heart Institute.
Dr. Russo is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is licensed in TN and KY.
Dr. Russo serves as the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at NorthCrest Medical Center (Springfield, TN), Co-Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Hendersonville Medical Center. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Nuclear Imaging and the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging. He has been recognized by the National Heart, Blood & Lung Institute (NHLBI), for participation in "The Cardiac Arrhythmia Suppression Trial".
Dr. Russo has been widely published in well-known medical journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Chest, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) and Radiology. Dr. Russo is also an instructor in the Tennessee Heart and Vascular Institute CT program.
